Top brand of boat? Well different brands do different things better than others. In the bowrider market you're in? Cobalt.

Hey I'm looking at buying my first boat ever
The one I'm looking at is a 2007 four winns h180 with the v6 4.3l

Does anybody have any hints or tips to save me the hassle of buying a boat and later regretting buying that boat?

Any tips on what to look for when buying will be greatly appreciated
Thanks again
Nuno

I bought a 2006 H180 with 3L engine at the beginning of March this year from a private seller.
I paid just under $11K but the boat came with a bit rusty trailer and no bimini or trailer cover (just the bow and cockpit covers).
The seller threw in a tube and some safety equipment.
I'm quite happy with the boat, it's very stable and handles fair amount of chop.
I took it out on English Bay last Saturday when it was very windy and there were almost no motor boats out (just a lot of sail boats racing) and it handled itself quite well.
I couldn't plane most of the time as the chop was good 2ft and some places more but I was able to get out and anchor at a quieter place near shore and enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful day with friends.
But on the way back I planed most of the way surfing the waves and it was fun and the boat handled great.
The 3L engine is admittedly barely adequate and I wish I was able to afford the 4.3L but it's my first boat and my budget was limited and I wanted to get as new boat as possible so I went for the 3L and I figure I might sell it in couple years and get H190 with 4.3L
The cockpit is a bit tight in the H180 with the sundeck and extra one foot would make a difference, also for the bow area.
On the other hand smaller boats are easier to trailer (although that's not an issue for you with F350).
I think the H190 would be just fine for you and your family.
Good luck and maybe I'll see you on the water somewhere this summer.

Holly crap thanks ric the first one is exactly the same as what I looked at but it does not have the tower which the one at the dealer will they r putting the fold down style on it

And the gel coat needs to get polished cause the previous owner had it break away from his private dock in Victoria and there is a few dings and scratches on it and they just rebuilt the drive arm and prop as well

Thanks for the quick replies guys this forum is giving me lots of info and you guys are as well

Here's a mother ? What is the top brand of boat to buy

The boat broke away from the dock and hit rocks that damaged the drive, prop and gel coat?
I'd stay away from that one. For 5 people go with an h-200 much more room and more seaworthy, I've had mine in Long Island sound many times and feel very safe it it. Shop around the deals are out there. An 18 footer (really 17.5) gets small real fast and kids always want to bring friends.

+1 on size issue. Last boat was a 17' GLASTRON bowrider and my fathers boat of 20 years is a 19' VIP bowrider. You will quickly run out of room when you put gear, provisions, and a family and obligatory friends on board. Going up a foot or two in size will definitely give more comfort and stability, as others have stated.

I agree with Ric, Cobalts make some great bowriders, we saw a bunch up in NH at Lake Winnipesaukee last Labor Day and they were gorgeous. We don't see them down here. Most bowriders around here are Grady Whites, Mako, Edge Water, or similar.

never ever ever buy a boat with a 3.0.

4.3 minimum on a 18-20ft boat.

I found one in kelowna for 17,500$ all in on the water
Through my father inlaws friend that works at a dealer out there he just got it as a trade in
It only has 60 hrs on motor n it's in brand new condition my father inlaw and his other buddy ( which a big boat freak) went to check it out for me and they both said its a really good deal

It's a 19ft four wins h190 red on white with sport decals and they r putting on wake board tower with Bimini top and tower speakers and bow cover n cock pit cover and repairing the trailer and servicing the trailer and boat( detail kind of stuff )

Great and congrats...looking forward to pics. Was the tower and speakers part of the deal? You will enjoy the tower setup for sure.
