...OH YA, I almost forgot. Had a major blowout on my trailer tire. What the crap???!!! If it's not one thing, it's another. Gotta replace a fender and the inside of the fender where the carpet is. Also gotta change the tail light and running light along the side. Any ideas where I can get that stuff?

Great to hear that things are going well (except the gauge)

I get my trailer parts at:

Welcome to boating. :) Seriously, you're likely to have a bunch of stuff like this pop up when you take over a used boat and start using it more than it has been recently. Rule of thumb on trailer tires is that they should be replaced every 5 years no matter what they look like. Are yours original? When you got the old impeller out, were there any missing pieces?

As to lights, in '04 FW hadn't yet switched to LED lights. This would be a perfect time to swap them all out. You'll save yourself a bunch of headaches later, your trailer will be more visible at night, and it will look better for what that's worth. I recommend http://www.optronicsinc.com/oemtruck3-new.html with the following part numbers:

STL-36RS Passenger tail
STL-37RS Driver tail w/license
MCL-95APG Fender front side markers
MCL-35A32G Winch post amber square
MCL-97RPG 3-Light bar, stainless steel

I meant to add that the tires have a limited lifespan in years. Mine looked great when I bought the boat & trailer 12 years old. I poked at the treads with a screwdriver, and the rubber seemed healthy. A month later, I had two tread separations in one day. Needless to say, I replaced all four of them.

Did yours look like this one? I did straighten it out, painted it and put it back on.
I don't know how, but it didn't even touch the side of the boat. LUCKY!!!
Good luck and know that the trailer tires are only trustworthy for a few years, even though they look ok, they weather poorly and Boom. I try to replace every couple of years and sell the old ones on the local classifieds for a few bucks.
Welcome Adam and please don't be afraid to ask anything!!!!!!

Yeah welcome to boating, LOL...I have a lot of stories but I'll spare you them, just get used to it.
For trailer parts I can recommend Eastern Marine in Delaware
www.easternmarine.com Champion Trailers in Louisiana www.championtrailers.com and Trailer Parts Depot www.trailerpartsdepot.com

I've gotten stuff over the years from all three and all were good.
For tires I have good luck with the Kenda Loadstar bias ply tires.

4.3 GL is Volvo Penta, correct?

Yes, the fuel filter is on the front Starboard side of the engine. Looks like a small oil filter (usually white). Be sure not to spill any fuel in your bilge...use something like a large ziplock back under and around the filter when you remove it.

Here is a link about the waterpump:
http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10173&hilit=change+impeller

There are other items that should be done more than once every nine years also. If these items have been neglected, then you are long overdue for:
- Drive Removal
- Inspect / Change the bellows
- Grease the U-Joints
- Grease the drive shaft splines
- Check engine to drive alignment
Many people do these items every year, but on the long side, you should do them at least once per 2-3 years.

This is why my next boat will be an outboard . Maintenance is a lot less expensive than an I/O .
