There are many things that could affect plane speed, like wind, water conditions, prop, spun hub, load, balance of load, trim etc....

Also speed and teach may be off....or....you may be on plane...not suggesting anything but what does being on plane mean to you?

In short...that boat is damn near on plane at a stop....prime cruising speed is 33-35 which is well beyond plane speed, which should be around 18-20 MPH/2k rpms.

Hey guys, thanks for your replies.
The engine is a 5.7Lt Merc. The prop is a 3 Blade 19P Laser11.

TX H210SS - What is "Speed & Teach" ?

I consider "Being on the plane" when you take off and the bow lowers back down to where I think is right.

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the boat booked in tomorrow at a Four Winns dealer to have a few bits & pieces done, so will ask him about the plane issue as well.

Cheers, Craig

4 blade prop's are a wise investment for a stern heavy bowrider.
I could plane 300RPM lower with my 4 blade 21P when compared to my 21P 3 blade.
I can now just plane at 2400RPM with a 1.6 ratio outdrive = winning! :D

Congrats Craig. Looks great. I thought it would take you longer to find one of these.
I'm sure we'll see you down Mornington/Martha Cove way in the next few months. Watch out for a black & white 180ss.
Plenty of good weather to come.

We spent Sunday up at Nagambie just for a change. Gentle cruise down river to the Goulburn Weir for lunch. Only managed to run aground once (slowly). If you intend going there, take a good map. Also a nice trip up river to Tahbilk winery. Top class restaurant.

Cheers

Graham

That's about the same revs that my previous boat planed at, which is a good speed for wakeboarding.
Might try the 4 blade 21P prop if not too expensive.

Thanks again, Craig

Hi Graham, I thought I would never find one. I looked on all the websites at least 3 times a day.
Will look out for your 180SS.

Glad you had a good time at Nagambie.

Cheers, Craig

I recently imported 3 prop's from Mike at Deep Blue, in the USA:

Cheaper than Ebay & a very reputable company to deal with.
