On that boat, the 350 MAG with any stock prop setup will easily do 60. You could increase the top end a bit more but would have to play around with it to see what it would do to hole shot.

I drove a 214 funship with a 350 MAG/B3/stock props and made 61-62 (to the extent you can believe the speedo). I don't know the exact weight difference but I believe the 214 would be significantly heavier.

Of course I still turned around and bought a Volvo :).

Well I looked again today and I think I am going outo on the lake with the gxi 5.0. 270 should be enough to get around with. I guess I will see next week when we go out and play. I have to say I love the ss look, but the windshield offers next to no protection. It looks mean being all black though. the inside is really nice and and the sony stereo will be a great thing to have as well. I talked to them and for 35400 or 35900 they will sale me the boat with a wake tower, 6 year warranty on the motor, swim platform mat, and at least 500 dollars in cash towards life jackets, tubes etc. They also said if the price comes down at the boat show they will give me the difference. Not to mention I don't have buy it till next year. Just give them a couple hundred down and go from there. What do you guys think about that?

As to price, the only thing that matters is what YOU think of it. As to the windshield, if it's something you noticed that quickly it may become a real nuisance for you no matter how it looks.

Windshield issues were the main thing that moved us from a Funship to a Horizon.

My brother got the swim mat, I didn't. He loves his, but he has dogs and so that is his main motivation. One thing about it: it is VERY HOT in the sun in the summertime. Like "don't even think about looking at it without dumping some water on it first" type of hot. My white swim platform gets dirty, but it also cleans up relatively easily. Unless you have some real motivation for the mat, I'd think hard about it.

You make a good point on the mat. It seems that it would get hot and I didn't even think about it. On the price I was just curious as to what you guys thought about it. I feel it is a good deal with a dual axel trailer. Anyone on here got the swim platform lights?

They didn't tell me what the msrp was. :| I guess I should have asked. The owner was saying it was over 40000. Seems to be an ok deal.

It looks like the "Build a boat" feature isn't up yet for the '08's (or it's down at the moment, not sure which). The link for it is http://www.fourwinns.com/build/H200SS/. I wouldn't proceed without knowing the MSRP of your boat with the included options so that you know how much of a "discount" you're getting.

Hi guys, i bought the 2008 horizon ss boat, orange in color. I love the color. I went with the 5.7 gi volvo package, upgraded stereo, bow fill in cushions and matching spare tire/wheel package. My speedo shows 63mph top speed. The ss package comes with the stainless prop, and it jumps right up on plane, getting to top speed in no time. I almost bought the red boat, until i looked at slipped at the marina where i bought mine. It was very, very water spotted. Maybe the owner of the new one did not wax it. Thats when i decided to go with the orange. I figured the lighter the color, the cleaner it would look. I waxed mine the day i picked it up, and so far, it still looks great after a days use in the river " minimal water sots ".... The red boat was an '07 model. I payed more and waited for the orange '08, and i dont regret that at all. The orange is a fantastic color in my opinion !!

How much did you pay for your 08 if you don't mind me asking you? I am tempted to go with the orange. It seems like it would be more rare you know. I just like the red. I don't think I will go with the yellow. I want a yellow muscle car so that might look like the sun in the garage. LOL. What do you think the 5.0 with 270 hp will do top speed. The 5.7 is a nice motor I just don't think I will be able to swing it and keep the boat under the right price. Thanks again you guys.

with the motor upgrade "5.7gi/sx", cockpit & forward covers, spare tire & wheel, bow filler cushions and stereo upgrade, it came to 38000.00..... Big chunk of change, but one hell of a package. I really dont think i got much of a break, since i ordered the boat before they were even available. But i wanted the orange, and bit the bullet ! Beautiful color though. When i pull up to the beach, i always have people stop over and admire it. Makes ya feel pretty good !!

Well, there you go - as long as you're happy with what you did, it was a great deal!

I just bought the 21 foot ss in the orange as well, 350 mpi bravo 1, I was looking at the red as well until I saw the orange sitting in the water, looks pretty custom for a stock boat.

I would love for you to post pictures. If not can you send them to me at cammicster@yahoo.com? The more you talk about the orange the more I would like it. The dealer up here says he has an orange one that will be here on the 12th or the 13th. He will sale it to me for 35900 with tower and the 50gxi and some other options like the extended warranty and at several hundred in store cash. Might be a good way to go. I would love to see the pictures though.
