I think I found my problem. I used
http://www.justanswer.com for support. My suspicion was the low out flow of water. I took the oil cooler off which was fine thereafter I took the riser off and this was the issue. They have a plate installed to reduce the water flow… the expert mentioned that if the boat is used in salt water the flow restriction could be too much and a sign would be the overheating only at higher RPM (with freshwater use this will not occur or very late in the boat engines live).
I cleaned the riser with a strong cable tie and now have good flow on all four ports. In general the riser looks OK but had some buildup.
Now I have to wait for new bolts, nuts and sealing kits…
The only mishap was that I got water in the exhaust. I Took the spark plugs out and hope that all water came out.
I will let you know next weekend what happened.
