I think I found my problem. I used http://www.justanswer.com for support. My suspicion was the low out flow of water. I took the oil cooler off which was fine thereafter I took the riser off and this was the issue. They have a plate installed to reduce the water flow… the expert mentioned that if the boat is used in salt water the flow restriction could be too much and a sign would be the overheating only at higher RPM (with freshwater use this will not occur or very late in the boat engines live).
I cleaned the riser with a strong cable tie and now have good flow on all four ports. In general the riser looks OK but had some buildup.
Now I have to wait for new bolts, nuts and sealing kits…
The only mishap was that I got water in the exhaust. I Took the spark plugs out and hope that all water came out.
I will let you know next weekend what happened.

I'd be inspecting the crankcase oil for water contamination.
H2o isn't the best of lubricants! :P

Hello,

Just to finish the story…

I removed the reduction plate between the manifold and the riser and waited for my new bolts, screws and seal to arrive… I put the engine back together and everything is fine. I change the oil in the stern and engine for the season and now the engine is running smooth like a champ and stays steady around 175F.

The only issue I had after we took the boat out for a run, the engine would not start… only the relay made a click… I’m not sure what fixed it, I pushed a fuse with a black button in the engine compartment and a small round push button near the battery which has a 30 on it might 30A…
For sure a bad moment 1 hour away from where we started the trip.
After some messing with the wires the engine started again. I don’t think that any of the fuses were out but I also don’t know what made the boat to start again.
Could this be the battery? I’m owning this boat since two months therefore I’m not sure how old the battery is.

Thanks
Mike

What was the part number for the impeller and where did you get it from? I currently apparently have the original in my VP and it's been murder finding the replacement.
