That part looks like it is there to prevent the weights from going out too far at high RPM. I don't think it would prevent you from getting spark at low RPM.

Well I have ordered a new start assist box. Should be here tomorrow. Also going to just buy a new hei distributer. Figure after that shouldn't beach more electrical issue possibilities. Thoughts ?

New flame thrower dist installed, new shift assist module. Still will not start up.

Okay it's now purring like a kitten. But will not go into gear. I'm hoping adjusting shift cables will do it. And hoping not a outdrive issue

Hey guys. She's finally on the water. My gears were destroyed in my outdrive. So I got a used one and keeping mine for parts, found on cl for 500. Count beat that I don't think. My dizzy was shot so figure that was it. Now having carb issues lol. It's always some ting. Holley 2bbl. Have 1 hose coming off carb in rear. But see no port for it to hook to. Thinking about ordering a rebuild kit also for it. When money allows I will do new intake and 4bbl. But I've dropped 4k of my funds into her plus the 3500ish I paid this season alone. Was gonna sell but figure why now I've done so much.

So your seller sold you a cracked block and an outdrive with bad gears? Courtrooms are made for this reason!

Man oh man you will wind up with basically a new boat mechanically but still, how to people to this to unsuspecting buyers??
My old boat still has the original engine and drive! Its needed nothing more than maintenance. The boat itself needed deck and stringer work and a new interior so I would up spending some serious cash there, but that was 1st time boat buyer not really knowing what he's lookin' at. Sure know now though!!!

It's on the water now and feels so good. Still not running perfect so took off carb and ordered a rebuild kit, should be here in a few days. Hopefully be good for the weekend. It has been a major ordeal for sure but hey like said will be a like new boat when done I hope. I still have a lot of interior work to do but I figure will do most in winter, need to recover the run deck as I just finished rebuilding it to spec, and adjust the rear seat so the sit level on top of my sub boxes.

That's interesting. Whenever I have pulled an engine, I pulled the bellhousing too. Just removed the two mounting nuts and washers at the transom mount. That must have been a job getting around to all those bolts.
