Ahhh......I understood it as any coring necessary on the hull of the boat, transom, as getting a balsa core. I have heard of manufacturers using foam as both a structural member under the fiberglass and as a "mold" to hold the structural fiberglass overlay in shape until it cures. Maybe someone on here with more fiberglass experience would have a better idea?

I'm surprised actually that they use balsa in the hull sides; Id want to make sure then that there's no water intrusion around any thru hulls.
The foam core for the stringers is pretty standard. I wonder what they used for the transom?

I have started gathering service manuals for it and have downloaded the Mercruiser manual 31 and 28. I can't find a link for the PCM diagnostics manual 33. Anyone know of a working link for it?
