Yes, the wind in the face thing was also one of my prime concerns while trying to decide. I'm 6'8". It's my practical side that made me consider it in the first place. Oddly enough it was my wife that really convinced me to order it with the ss shield. On those chilly mornings I do wish we had the taller windshield but otherwise the wind in my face thing doesn't bother me. One thing we do on those cold mornings early in the season is leave the bow canvas snapped up. The spare, as Brent pointed out, was placed there by the factory. One thing I did do to give it just an inch or so more clearance was to rotate the tire/rim so I am using the bottom two lug holes, if that makes sense.

Yellow 2008 200 SS
350 Mag 300hp
Roswell Area 51 Tower
"regular" windshield
Dual batteries with switch to isolate engine and house circuits
10" kicker sub in sealed enclosure
Wetsounds Pro 485 speakers
Perfect Pass Star Gazer wake (GPS)
Re-wired Sirius so that it actually works

I can't seem to find any decent pictures.....I guess that's job #1 when it comes out of storage.

I would love some details and pictures of that kicker sub and box. Are you happy with the setup?

Check out the Roswell Tower, there's also a bimini available for it. I'll try to dig up some pictures of mine.....

For your battery, try this... http://bluesea.com/category/1/productline/overview/329
It's easy to install, isolates engine cranking from accessories. You can kill your accessory battery and still start the engine.

Paradise - nice one. I just about pissed myself when I read about your "custom" tear in the seat. That's really too bad, but at least you have a sense of humor about it... Vinyl shouldn't be too costly to repair, I hope.

Impulse - I have a black 200 SS with the high windshield, and I tinted it fairly dark. I really like it. If you'd like to email me at jjker@hotmail.com, I'd be happy to send you some pictures of it...

Now, for the role call:

2008 200SS Black
5.7Gi Volvo, 300 HP, Corsa Q&Q
Bow and cockpit canvas, compass, custom installed chartplotter/gps
Swim mat, spare wheel/tire
stereo about to be upgraded before spring - going with speakers in stock locations, but using larger diameter either JL or Polk, and a 4 channel amp. No subs unless I decide they are needed after this upgrade. I also need to put a dimmer on the gauges, as I find them far too bright at night.

For those of you that ordered the 08 with the optional stereo upgrade, it came with a 10" MTX sub and a very poorly constructed sub enclosure, if you can even call it that. I built a box from scratch, sprayed the outside with truck bed liner and attached a piece of rubber mud flap on the bottom side that touches the boat. Huge difference! I highly recommend rebuilding the factory installed sub if you got one.

I was pretty close to building my own boxes for this area. I am just affraid that the sub will be too muffled. I have spoken to Greg at Speed Marine about doing some work for me in 1 of 2 areas. (Also spoken with Brent from here too). I am not 100% sure which way I am going to go yet.

How does it sound now?

I have a 200ss with the upgraded stereo option. The Sony speakers sound pretty good, the Kicker amp is great....the sub...not so good. This is mostly due to the box/holder or whatever you want to call it, that comes from the factory. The 10" MTX marine sub basically did nothing. I went to Bestbuy and bought a 10" sealed box for $40cdn, Bassworx SW10B -- http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetai ... atid=20121

It fits perfectly into the factory sub location and sounds much better. Well worth the $50. If it gets really wet, it's toast but for $40 I'll just go get another one. The MTX sub was ok but I bought entry level Kicker sub and it sounds really good.

That amp is stable to 2ohms so you could actually hook up a 2nd 10" sub and install under the bench on the opposite side.

I am thrilled with how it sounds. It works now. It actually pounds. I also plugged in and mounted (in the helm area) the level control back to the amp for the sub. The upgrade was building an actual box for the sub to work properly in. I know whoever designed the "bracket" the factory sub came in was no audiophile.
