Congrats on your new boat !!

I'm just curious how your 2009 compares price wise to a 2008
like this one.

I think that the 2007 & 2008 are the same,in 2009 some of the options became standard.Jeff would know better but I believe -Stainless steel cup holders, upgraded steering wheel and stereo upgrades are standard fo 09.

The 2009 at the boat show is was listed at $19200 for a 3.0. I paid $17700 (w/ bulster seat and depth finder) last year at this time for the same boat from the same dealer. They said that it went up in price due to disc brakes being added to the trailer, the bolster seat became standard and a couple other options that i cant recall became standard. They said Sirrius isnt offered anymore.

Thanks gomes. That is what is was looking for. So the 2008 leftover for $14,000 is a decent deal.

A friend at work is looking for a little runabout like the 180. He would buy new if it was just a $1,000 difference. But if it is about $3k difference between a 2009 and this particular 2008 180, he might as well go for it.

$14k seems like a really good deal. They were asking $17.9 for a left over 2008 at the boat show.

Burdette, you are pretty much right on, stainless grab handles and cup holders, deluxe steering wheel, Sony/Sirius stereo with sub, I think bolstered seats is also standard too. The other thing that added to the price is the trailer is upgraded now with the disc breaks too. Nothing major, just nice improvements here and there.

Like I said earlier, I went looking for a non-current 2008 and from what was available I would have saved myself about $600 minus all the new standard upgrades. For me it was a no brainer.

Earlier on I was looking a early 2000's and couldn't find much less the 20K worth the money people were asking, so I decided I would make up the difference with a good down payment on a new one. If I could have saved $7500 on a 2001-2003 I would have gotten one, good luck finding one for that money worth buying were the results I was having. All other options left me crossing to the U.S. which made things more complicated.

Hey Jeff
I forgot about the brake upgrade. When I went looking for a new boat we started looking at the Bayliner. The appealing factor was the price but once you start looking at features or lack of we decide to pass. The next step was finding a FW with seating package and colour will wanted.I called every dealer in Ontario and one in New York.Couldnt find what we thought we wanted. We decide to buy the more popular sunsport seating model. The week we went to purchase a 2008 a 2007 came in on consignment. The owner wanted it sold quick,so the price was good.It had everything we wanted and the dealer believe the boat only had a few hours on it.Anyway the bottom line is We bought it,it is a perfect fit for us.I transfer the warranty and I consider it to be like new.
We found the same thing you did the older boats are either like new with a high price or early rough and a high price.
New is the way to go if you can. I think I got lucky, the wife says something will come along if your patient.
PS I called today and ordered my lock pass for the Trent Severn.

Gomes, I was just checking my invoice because it and the brochure are all I have to look at. I think the base price I paid for the boat was just over 18K including the boat show incentives.

Burdette, I originally was set on the 180 Challenger from SeaDoo, amazing boat but I am on a weedy lake. Those jet drives wouldn't work out so well in them. The other hands over for FW was once my wife looked at the interior of the Seadoo (all sport) to the FW (classy) she had made up her mind. I also looked at the Bayliner, Tahoe, ect... Price was there, but you are giving up a lot. I then was looking at the Chapparell, Rinker and Regal's at the boat show, beautiful boats, try getting an entry level bow rider for less the 30K minus the trailer. Gorgeous boats, don't get me wrong. I just don't see how they consider FW one of their main competition when they run about 6-7K more without including a trailer and zero options!

How do you find the 3.0 performs overall? I wanted a boat that could do a little bit of everything well, which is why I went FW. I don't think I will ever really max out the occupency of 7, If I pull a wakeboard or tube maybe 2-3 of us in the boat, plus it has to cruise nicely. My brother-in-law has a 250H.O. Evinrude on the back of his boat that will do 90mph on the water, great fun but can't do a single thing but... When I get off the boat my hair looks like I just got up and my parents complain about the speed all the time. LOL

Jeff

I had a 2006 H180 with the Volvo 3.0L and I found it to be more than adequate for tubing. Never had a skier behind the boat though. My 180 would top out at 44 mph on GPS and I used it on Lake Ontario and felt it cruised quite well and handled the rough water quite adequately for it's size. I found the stock 14.25 X 21 Volvo prop was the best between it and the aluminum Turning Point I bought as a spare. Trashed the Volvo prop on a rock and had it 'rebulit' but it was never the same. I am sure you will enjoy the FW H180 and I feel this boat offers some the best value in the entry level market today.

I agree with H180 the 3.0 VP works great.I am familiar with your lake I'm on Lower Buckhorn.I think you will find the 3.0lt pulls the wake boards no problem with passengers in the boat.Depending on the type of tube and how large the the riders are you should still have no problems. The 180 with the 3.0 is a great combination,if I was looking at 4.3 I would buy the 190.I test drove a new Bayliner with the 3.0 merc if worked fine but I found the FW out performed it in many ways.
In the park I am in there are I think 6 H180 ( one is a fish/ski) 2005 and up.All the owners are happy with the 3.0 they all tube and ski.
I found the samething with the other manufactures (Chapperal etc)I have friends one with a chapperal and another with a Glastron nice boats but I like the FW better.

I am on my second weekend out with my H180 3.0 merc, no dramas pulling slalom skiers with 3 in the boat REALLY pleased with overall performance and handling. I am running a 19 inch vengance stainless 3 blade prop (good match) for what I want to do.

Hey Jeff congratts on the purchase....I also lucked out on the Canada US dollar exchange. My boat listed on the Fourwinns site for 55k I paid 39k I figured that was a huge savings for a new boat. I'm picking it up around end of April.

I'm planning on waiting until the May long weekend before picking it up if possible. I have to schedule the date to go over everything with the salesman before taking it home. I want to try and wait so I know the temperature won't be dipping below freezing at night anymore.

Congrats on th epurchase Jeff. Be aware that if you go out prior to May long weekend you may find that marina fuel pumps are not yet operating. It happened to me in Kingston, launched in Collins Bay.. went all the way up past the base and had every intention of getting gas at one of the marinas on the way back. Much to my embarrassment, they were all closed and I had to strand my family at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour while I called for a ride back to Collins Bay to pick up my truck and trailer. Whoops!!!!
