After having kept ours wet slipped over the last couple of years, one thing I have learned is not to discount the amount of rain water that can get into them, even with covers on! When sitting in the boat with the full canvas on and in the rain, you can watch water pour in along the base of the windshield, flow to the back of the windshield (downhill) and right over the gunwhale into the boat. A steady stream on both sides! This also happens where the bow canvas snaps onto the bottom of the windshield door. I think a mooring cover would be the only way to stop this from happening. Anyhow, I have found with rainwater alone, enough water can get into the boat to trigger the bilge pump, and a heavy steady rain produces enough to trigger it a couple of times!

So, next time it's raining, try getting into the boat with the cover on and a flashlight, and look for signs of water coming in around the covers. You might not be able to do much about it, but at least you might solve the mystery.

That is definitely a possiblity in that the bow and cockpit covers never keep all the water out...in my case re-doing the bow cover so it covered the whole anchor locker cover solved this problem...I still can get water in the bilge because the cockpit cover lets some water drip in between the sun pad and the rear seat backs...I have to waterproof it better this season...it's not enough to turn on the bilge pump but after a while it adds up....

I bought "Dri-dek" and cut it, and placed it everywhere I thought it would help. I put it under both bow seats -- in the compartment in front of the driver, under where the cooler goes, in the ski locker and more. It was easy to cut and fit into any shape I needed. When you boat in salt water as we do, I feel you tend to get more spray and water into the boat. It essentially solved any wet/mildew/dampness problems everywhere.

The post from seasons past! I still have the same problem with year four coming up. After reading all the old posts nothing fits the problem. The anchor locker does not get more than a few drops of water so a no go. Water doesn’t get in through the horn. There is no other port or thru-hull device. The boat doesn’t sit out in the rain. There is no cooling leak. The bilge is dry before we leave. What ever water brought in by people is soaked up by towels and the carpet. Even the dog doesn’t get a brake. All beverages are consumed. All expressed “water” is aimed away from the boat. We explored the idea that there could be pin holes/small gaps in the transom letting water in behind the drive. Several external checks by various professionals indicate no. I honestly haven’t sat still long enough to check it while out in the water. It’s not like we are going to sink. I just don’t like the ski locker carpet and storage items wet unnecessarily. More so after a day in the salt chuck when everything has to be rinsed. Hey, if we ship in water and the boat needs a strip down that’s ok. But a niggling problem is what it is. More of a “what is up with that” kind of thing.

No fuel problems if you just float. Bugger that, I'm burning fuel this season.

As for the Admiral... A happy wife is a happy life.
