What is the captain's call exhaust? He's throwing in 10 life jackets, wakeboard, skis, tube, fish finder, and a few more miscellaneous items

Capn', I think that one has the Gi, not the mighty GXi.

Yep, missed that one. The Gxi rocks. But I do like the overall appearance of the one in Lewisville better. I would think that dealer won't sell it for the $25K the OP is paying. So break out the Magic erasers and start cleaning.

Yeah, exterior needs a lot of buffing then it'll look good. Still feel like it's a pretty good deal, plus it's my first boat purchase, but not my first boat!

Would you be towing it, and if so, with what? Realistic down-the-road weight will be right at 6,500#.

Captain's Call is an exhaust system where the exhaust routing is switchable between through-hull and through-prop. It's operated via a switch at the helm which activates a pair of electric motors in the exhaust plumbing. If you aren't sure of its legalities in your area, check first. In some places people are getting ticketed just for having it, even if they don't ever use it. And to answer one question, no, it does absolutely nothing for performance on a small block engine. Unless, of course, you add some Mr. Gasket stickers to the hull.

New to the forum so I don't have anything loaded. I will pull it with a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7HEMI. I don't think it has the captain's call

That'll work. :)

Oh, one other thing. Does it have dual batteries? In '06 the factory location for them was to have both on the starboard side. As a result many 240's have/had a starboard list due to the imbalance created by having two heavy batteries, the fresh water tank, the stereo components, and the captain's fat a$$ (in my case) all on that side. The fix is to move the batteries over to the port side.

Looking at the pics again - I see it has the obligatory bent side guides on the trailer (not a problem), but I also see a bent fender - what happened there and more importantly is anything else damaged?

OK, one really last thing. That boat probably still has the original batteries and trailer tires which will all be due for replacement at the end of this season or shortly thereafter. Just trying to give you more to bargain with. ;)

The trailer is a little jacked. Taking it to the water this last weekend allowed me to see how he treated it. Nothing major, just lack of knowledge. He literally threw the boat in water..a little too deep in my opinion. So the story as he told it was as he was loading it on a windy day it sort of got knocked around, but there's nothing wrong with the boat and it has checked out with a surveyor. We are meeting tomorrow to see how much it'll take to fix the trailer and we are going to take that amount off the overall price.

Batteries were shot when we met to take it to the mechanic so he replaced one, which I will in turn put another one in there.

I appreciate all the advise. Keep it coming with questions!

Is it necessary to have a trailer brake controller? I saw that it has it's own 'system' at the tongue and doesn't look as though it's electrical.

No. Brake controllers are for electric brakes. That trailer (like most boat trailers) has surge brakes, most likely disc brakes. When you step on the brakes, inertia forces the trailer toward the vehicle. The actuator in the tongue compresses the master cylinder in the tongue, forcing brake fluid through the lines to the calipers at the wheels.

There's a chance it has drum brakes instead, but probably unlikely.

Looks like a great buy at $25k. You can try Bleach White tire cleaner on the yellow seats. Do it on a warm day and I bet they will be white again. Just use a little conditioner after and you should be good to go. As for the hull try Mary Kates On/off hull cleaner. Good luck!
