Holy crap Kyp - expensive repair..!

Thank goodness for insurance which covers more than just hitting things. Certainly helps ease the pain of paying that premium each year. Who are you with - Club Marine or Nautilus?

Looking forward to having a break over Easter - will be towing up to Batemans Bay for 10 days of R&R & fun.

Welcome back Kyp2; my season hasn't even started yet, my boat was supposed to be launched today but 35 mph winds, gusting to 45+ mph put paid to that!

Has the mechanic told you what went wrong with yours? I also have a 245 Sundowner but one year older than yours, admittedly (unfortunately) with the less powerful 5.7 GXi engine. For some reason mine has the transom assembly usually fitted to the 8.1s, I was just wondering if anything I should be looking out for ?

Hi Kyp2 - great to see you are back on the water! I'm insured with Nautilus - not sure how they compare service-wise with Club Marine, but the premuims are quite a bit cheaper for me.

You should catch the last of the reasonable weather - some benefits of global warming I guess.. Am in the UK at the moment and the weather is about the same as Melbourne. I don't plan to be on the bay again until September now.

+1 on the underwater pic Jackal - its' great!

Just thought I would revitalize this thread , and was wondering what all of us down under are doing boating wise (maintenance or still using) . I'm guessing no one here has to winterise.

Mine's just sitting in the garage Ardy. Plan to do a couple of maintenance things over the next month or so including an improved install on my VHF radio and bleed my trailer brakes (still not happy with them...) and this time put some rubber caps over the bleeders to stop them corroding and clogging up - is painful to have to remover all 4 of them and clean with a wire before you can begin to bleed them, but I guess is to be expected when used constantly in salt water.

Will be back out on the bay in September.

As for me, I intend to take it out this weekend for a cruise up the river. I won't be engaging in any water activities, but it is fun just to be on the water. Another plus is by using the boat I can top up the tank after, and avoid having a tank of stale fuel next Summer.
Anyone else have plans for winter down under

Hey Guys, Everyone has been a bit quite in Aus, i thought i would show some pics of what i have had to put up with during this winter...

This is a good size bluey i caught for dinner, i am not much of a fisherman so i only take what i will eat, this one feed the family and my parents 2 nights in a row. He looks a little worse for wear (he is dead) but i had t swim a fair way back to the boat.

It wasn't tall that cold but when you are in the water for a while i t pays to wear a suit for a number of reasons.
