Getting back to your deck job, nice cutting job, its not easy to do that so neatly unless you have the right tools and some practice. You're lucky you don't have to do stringer work. You can see if you look close that they didn't even glass the stringer all the way up to the top. That's how my boat was, they glassed them about 1/2 way up and the rest was raw wood if you can believe it. I had a 'glass shop do my stringer work, I replaced the foam and re-installed the deck myself. Then I had them glass in the deck and gelcoat it for me. I would have done this myself but here in the NE when you don't have a garage or shed to work in, the weather will not cooperate long enough unless you do it right in the middle of boating season LOL.

weather is the reason that i am banging this thing out this week with these 80* days. i should be off of work a couple hours early today to get in a good days work and hope to laminate the underside of the decking tonight hopefully or tomorrow will be a solid evening of glassing the parts depending on cut and fitment timing today..

the weekend was a bust with no work as friends were in town all weekend.. BUT this week is focus focus focus. i have to capitalize on the remaining heat of the year.

last night was a successful evening. I got home an hour early and that helped a lot.

this is the finalized interior layout (pink is the nonskid layout) and the upholstery design that i have dreamed up.

Image

last night i logged 3hours of work set up to clean up. so far this project has 7hours 20 minutes of man hours. I will be logging all of the man hours and detail of what was done in that time period.

for this 3 hour stent: set up saw horses, open up the boat, remove the stereo amplifiers, cut out the last 6"x8" section of floor that the amps were blocking, make a contour scribe out of some paint studs and hot glue, template the contour of the hull sides, transfer the cardboard template to the decking ply, cut out the wood, belt sand the edges and round the corners, put a taper on the bow edges for the hull angle, test fit the first decking, slight trimming and sander, fits like a glove, measure and mark for the rear decking, cut rear decking, fit in the boat, pictures, clean up.

i got another hour and a half in last night.. not many photos as i was hard at work taking detailed measurements for the inner stringer wall supports for the cross hatch supports for the recessed ski locker hatch and the removable inset beams that go above the fuel tank to support the fuel tank hatch. I also cut, fitted, laminated together the under deck under seat base support. The under seat pedestal support will be 2" total thickness including the deck once the 3 layers are stacked. Tonight i will glass seal the support block. (EDIT I tossed my caliber on the base at lunch as i felt that the earlier statement of 1.75 was wrong. the total thickness will be 2.1" under the pedestal base and the load will be carried over 2 stringers.)

I have also decided in my notes on time and daily work log to note the amount of time i simply sit or stand thinking.. YES you do a lot more of this that one would think on big projects like this.. things change as you go. And as much as i pre planned things change you take precision measurements int he real world and things need to be fitted. sometimes I just think out a better cleaner way to perform a task. Majority of this is in a long term time management thought process.

total man yours is 8.833 man hours.

accept your fuel tank is like 900 feet long..

Well last night i put in another hour and a half. I would have gotten more in but the neighbor cam by with a baby gift and chatted for a while then the wife came home and chatted some more so that blew 45min of good daylight..

10/29 - 1.5hr - 10.33 total man hours

-Ran the boat for a little while to get the stabal and winterization process going. Drained the block, drained the manifolds, drained the water pump, opened up all hoses. i will plastic wrap the motor this weekend.

- fitted the laminated seat base and it needs to get 1 ply chiseled off for it to set perfect flush with the stringers.

- removed all hoses leading to the fuel tank and capped them out of the way

syphoning was a bust so i am buying a universal 12v fuel pump after work and will make a rig to syphon the tank dry. then return the pump or i will keep it i have yet to decide.

- with the hoses gone i was able to fit the Starbord side inner stringer support (that i am adding to support the cross bars supporting the Fuel hatch and the under deck ski locker hatch recess). got it cut and fitted.

Feels nice to see more fresh wood entering the boat.

- cleaned up some more old glass joints.

That was all that i was able to get done in the hour and half because of the distraction, but it is always good to talk with these neighbors they are our best couple neighbors.

Tonight: remove fuel tank, Port inner stringer, chizzle the seat support, bulkheads, under hatch recess support.

The old 200s before '93 were more like a nearly 21' boat, 20'9"...tank is 44 gallons aluminum...
Work looks good...you're lucky the weather is holding...

Yes, my 1987 chaparral 19' seamed like a 21' of today since platforms didn't count back then. When I had my floor and stringers re-done, I fabricated a new aluminum tank which upgraded me from 35 gals to 50+ gals.

well fellas and bombshell babes,

last night i purchased a $48 MrGasket 35gph fuel pump.. needless to say i will be returning it tomorrow. "it did not fit int he area i will have to order a specific one for my boat" wink wink...

Ok so i have a 20' stretch of 8ga jumper wires with alligator clips on the ends for things like this.. no need to even use a wire nut or break the factory seal on the wires. clip clip and power also easy on off.. SO i fired up the pump with some 3/8" hose and a steady flow started. THE next hour and 15 was painfully slow. I have over 3/4 tank left and i hold 35 gallons. So i proceed to surf the internet on my phone as i could not shake the boat or leave the tanks un attended as i did not want an overflow. I put 15 gallons in the truck and then 13gallons in the jugs and riding mower int he garage.

I got the tank out and to no surprise i find all sorts of treasures gathered since 1993... a strip of cheap rusted sockets, wire nuts, screws, bolts, leaves, sludge.. it sure will be nice to get the drainage flowing and fresh bilge paint once the supports are glassed in.

Now time to find a product to clean the inside of the tank out. As i figure it is out i may as well clean it up nice.

Well it freaking snowed friday night. This storm that blew in totally screwed my weekend of glassing. It looks like this was my last weekend before the baby and winter that is now here. All i can do is hope that it warms up and i amy get a warm weekend to glass everything into the boat otherwise i will have a bunch of pieces with back glass ready to be glassed int he first warm weekend int he spring. BABY cannot go int he boat until memorial so if i have everything made and all that i can glass in the shop glassed then all i will need is 2-3 days of 60+ and the floor will be in and painted and non skidded.

so i guess i will work on some more parts tonight and pick away at them this week and get them done before it really gets cold..

I need to construct a better stronger cover support system for the winter..

ON A POSITIVE NOTE. the shop has heat so all of the small parts can be back glassed inside. The rear hatch can be constructed and glassed along wight eh rear bench seat. So that is good.

Baby coming, how do you do on 3 hrs of sleep at a time? They do eventually sleep through the nite but the first few months, are a little rough. If they eat well and sleep well then you're on easy street. If not, well then, remember, it's temporary lol......

yea baby is due NOV 29 the wife is 37 weeks, one of the big reasons i wanted to get a majority of this done before He comes.. this weekend looks like i will be able to get a lot done.. I operate on about 6hrs sleep year around so should be good.. I am hoping he is like me and sleeping thru the night at 8 days old.

i am just trying to bust ass on some projects now and get them done bc i know it will take longer once baby is around.

I had 3 of the rub rail inserts under my fuel tank too. Four Winns must of been using them as spacers to keep some bilge space open between the gas tank and the hull. Any ideas on how you are going to reinstall the tank back into the well while keeping that space open under the tank?
