Well, I'm just about done! Wow, this has been quite the project. But a rewarding at that. Here's the lastest. I have finished installing everything but need to finalize zip tying the wires and making it look "finished". I finished cutting the holes and installed the speakers and tweeters. That required a little bit of gelcoat work to patch one of the small old tweeter holes. I got the amps mounted. Most importantly I followed JL's manual and tuned them with a volt meter to the exact specs they are designed for. I never heard of this process before but it was kind of cool. I downloaded and played sine wave tones at different frequences for each amp then dialed in the amps to precise volts.
Final results. HOLY FREAKING COW DOES THIS SOUND GOOD. At 3/4 volume its essentially too loud to talk over. The bass out of that sub can be felt all over the boat. Good grief is that sub poweful. We actually hit the river yesterday and at WOT it just cranks like you're sitting still. Bottom line, I'm beyond blown away. At normal levels the sound is simply amazing. It feels rich and clear. I was absolutely giddy. I was a little concerned that difference wouldn't be worth the money. But as soon as I cranked it up, that concern went away.
Here's some pics before the final ones of it all installed which I will take today.
My newly carpeted board mounted. The tape was there to help me mount the amps straight since you can really get much perspective in there. Can't see the distribution blocks yet.

Setting up to tune the amps.

All dialed in at 17 volts.

Cut a hole to run the power and ground to the distribution blocks. worked out great.

You can see them in this pic before it was mounted.
