Cool! Wonder how that 180 would sit with a real motor on the back though, a 90 isn't going to cut it. Put a 535 pound DI 2 or 4 stroke V6 on the back, wonder what the 'sag' will be aft.

My guess is that this boat is rated for a max of 130-150 HP and only 430 lbs or so in motor weight. It appears to be a 20" shaft motor.

The e-tec 130HP (V4) is 390 lbs.

The Mercury 90HP EFI 4-Stroke is 399 lbs.

The Mercury 115HP EFI 4-Stroke is also 399 lbs.

The e-tec 150HP (V6) is 418 lbs.

The e-tec 200HP (V6) is also 418 lbs.

The Optimax 135 & 150 HP (V6) are each 431 lbs.

The Verado 150 HP (I4) is a fat 510 lbs.

If the boat sits as nice and level as it does with that pig of a 90HP on there I bet it would sit just fine with an e-tec 150hp...the Optimax would likely start causing it to sag pretty low. Just forget about the Verado.

My boat is rated for 175HP but only 427 lbs of motor weight. However, it is also a 25" shaft motor.

Honestly, with my 150HP motor I am fully satisfied with the performance. The hole shot is unreal and the top end of about 47mph (I have seen 47 on the gps a couple of times) seems just right for this hull. My guess is this new boat is lighter and I know it is narrower. I bet the 130 would give it comparable performance to my boat. 150hp would likely be overkill, 200hp would be insane.

I could get 49 mph GPS with the setup I had. One huge improvement I made with my 25" motor was I rasied it all the way up to the bottom hole. Four Winns burys the motors way too deep. Do you see a lot of water spraying around your transom from the engine? With my engine mounted on it's highest setting, the performance improved in every way. My 20" Yamaha has the same issue on this 170 Horizon, and I'm waiting for the right timing to move my engine higher on this boat.

Yeah, I have been thinking of raising it up. It is at the 2nd hole from the top...I can go up 2.

I'm also considering a new prop. Right now I have just the stock aluminum 14-1/4x19 on there. I'm only getting 4800-4900 rpms at WOT....so, I'm actually thinking of going down in pitch.

Maybe moving the motor up would get my revs up without a pitch change.

The one thing that I don't like about the performance is the porpoising I get when I have a couple of adults in the rear seat and trim up just slightly from full in. I wonder if moving the motor up would help or hurt that.

Enough about me though, how about that new Four Winns with an outboard.

Like I said I'd like to see them go beyond the typical smallest boat gets an OB offering...those boats are nice but way to small to be useful here...a 20' would be nice but a 22' much better and if utilitarian enough it would sell in coastal regions...same hull could be offered in dual console or walk around styles...and for the walk around 22' is about the minimum useful size...

Time to upgrade Lou, enough talking about your next boat, stick with Four Winns, buy used, and have outboard power. You will have to choose you own OB power on this one however.... This has your name written all over it. :D

P.S. Glad to see some interest in the OB powered FW for 2011. It's a wise move for them. Looks "cute" to me.

What's up with the rub rail on that boat? Is it just the rail itself, a bad joint, or just an illusion?

Looks like it has had a few "bumps" in it's 19 years of use. Easy fix.

Anyone find any specs on the new OB boat yet? Max HP? Pricing?

I don't think an outboard hull design will sell. Why? Where's the swim platform for families? Do wives like that ugly motor sticking out? Nope. Watersports? HA! - yeah, right.

Hmmmmmm. Two dealers I have spoke to can't get these new outboard Four Winns boats fast enough. I think the move to offer outboard boats again was a good one, and will prove to be a smart decision by FW.

Are dealers actually able to get the boats already, or just place orders?

Does anyone have specs on the boat?

A few boats have shipped, very few. Solid bookings/back log at FW for the boats currently.

Same situation in Cadillac with the new Glastron OB. Another sweet new little boat for 2011.

Max HP on both these boats is 150 HP. I'm told.

It's no wonder there is a demand for these boats. A brand new 18 foot boat with 90HP outboard and trailer starting at $16,995. That
will get some people into boating that may have not considered a new boat before. Good for the builders, good for the dealers, and good for the consumers as well.

A boat for $16K? Those were the days! Almost makes me want to go back and start over. I paid $12K CAD for a 10 year old H200 back in 2007. Had these been offered I probably would have bought one and would still be using it :? Welll maybe not ...
