All sounds good Tim.
Insurance: If I remember correctly, you don't legally need insurance on your boat to be on the water. I'm not 100 percent sure on that, but I recall my insurance company saying that. Regardless however, I would for a lot of reasons. Liability for one, and to insure the boat if something happens, you smack a dock, rip off the out drive, or something happens while under tow to the lake or whatever, you're covered. Which sounds like you are doing. Now what kind to get?? They way it worked with my insurance company was they asked me how much I wanted to insure it for and they wrote the policy for that amount. What I typically would do in the winter months is drop the insurance down to fire and theft only and that would save a little. I was able to do that only because my boat was paid for, which sounds like your case. Now, my new boat has a lien holder and they required a specific amount for the engine and out drive, and a specific amount for the hull. I wont be able to drop the insurance down for the winter months on the new boat.
Sounds like you plan to keep the boat at your house if I recall. If not, I should mention that you should check with the intended storage unit personnel about required insurance. Some places will require you to have full coverage insurance, even though they have insurance as well. I know this is the case for us this year with the new boat. The dealer is offering us free storage for buying our boat and they required us to have a full coverage policy in place within 2 days of our purchase. I questioned them on that, thinking if something happened then their insurance would cover it. She said it didn't matter, we still need our own policy. Still don't know that I understand that but oh well.
Winterization: Personally you could do most, if not all of it yourself, provided you have the know how and correct tools. It can be fairly involved. In my opinion, I like to have it done by the pro's. I like knowing that its done correctly, and if something should go wrong from not properly winterizing it (A) its not my fault

and (B) the service center would make it right. All this said, I don't want to mess with pulling the out drive and that off for servicing.
Cant wait to see pic's when you get it!!! Im sure you're excited!
Jim
