Yarra cruising> Great trip when the bay is too rough. Last Sunday. Drop in at Newport (good ramp), and about 1hour 20mins up to Herring Island. Good spot for a picnic. Kids will love how close you get to the ships. Fuel available at Pier 35 marina. Plenty of spots to stop on the way as mentioned on other posts.

How low are the bridges? Think I'll fit under fine with a wake tower? Does it get really shallow?

Plenty of depth up the Yarra Mike, but the wake tower may be a problem - you would have to check it out yourself to be sure. I imagine it'll probably clear, but not by much!

Hi. Google Yarra River boating guide (Parks Victoria) and it has all the bridge clearances at high and low tides.
2.47m at high tide is the lowest clearance. 3.0 at low tide.

The bridges on the Maribyrnong are higher

Gooday Jeffo. Good to see another FW. We need some more info. Are you in Brisbane ? Is it for cruising, water sports or fishing or the lot ? I lived in St Lucia for a couple of years. Used to ski on the river between the sharks.. Have fun posting the pics.
