A 12" woofer will not fit.
The amp is mounted on the vertical wall in the starboard/ bow locker.
The ply will need to be ground thinner in the middle to allow a flat surface for the sub to mount to... :wink:

I really appreciate your feedback. Can you suggest a good 10" sub for that location? Is there one that will sound good if I use it in that location as free air, or will I need to build some sort of enclosure? I don't really care for boomy bass.

Most low/ medium power applications will work fine in free air/ large enclosures.
I find the Polk Audio db1040's to be great value.
