Tvega,

I honestly do not know why they finally agreed to paying for the part since 3 weeks ago it was sorry please contact a VP dealer and take it to be serviced. Maybe I bugged them enough, they felt sorry for me, or they realize that the orginal part sucks and it is now on them to correct?

If the pump is failing on such a regular basis, there can be no doubt it's due to a design (or manufacturing) fault; don't you folks in the US have consumer protection laws like in Europe (or at least the UK !) which cover items sold but not "fit for purpose"?

My guess is that Volvo couldn't care less about consumer protection laws, but might be justifiably concerned about oil/fuel spill laws which carry upto a $25,000 fine per instance. Easy to skirt a consumer, much harder with the US Gov. How many '07 plus SX drives were sold in the US I wonder?

Without reading every single reply to this thread, it sounds like this is isolated to Volvo only. Not Merc???? BTW glad it worked out for you with the warranty, thats fantastic!

Because they use totally different trim pump designs.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but reading this one I would think that this will be an on-going issue. I posted in another thread about a Trim issue I had, although mine was different in that the trim was stuck up. It was not leaking and I diagnosed it to the pump. I tried to jump it directly and nothing, so I pulled the motor/pump out and tried providing 12Vs there and nothing. So I am pretty sure I have a failed motor. I have seen some information out there about the motor, but nothing concrete. I have the later model (2008 Horizon 210), but the pump has 3848794 on it, so I am not sure if it is after the service notice (P/N 21573834). Does anyone have leads on a replacement motor?

Any success on the after Warranty (I was told 2 years) "Good Will" with VP?
