The interior pix of RR's boat tell an interesting story, look at how much more room there is in the rear of the boat because it's an OB and not an I/O. More room, less weight, better performance, less maintenance. Here in salt water there is no contest. Fresh water well sure in a bigger boat an I/O is an economical power source, but smaller boats esp in coastal regions, OB is a good choice. Glad to see it and hope they make a bigger one.

Here is a pic of the new larger Four Winns OB powered boat, designed by their new French designer/engineer.
Continuing the "new direction" for the brand.

LOL Cap'n!

After seeing the boat "in the flesh" at the Toronto Boat Show, both my wife and I agreed that we don't care for it. Now, that doesn't mean that I don't like a outboard powered bowrider, as a matter of fact, I would have prefered one. But when you stand in front of the new 180, the transom area just looks like a thrown together afterthought. It just doesn't flow with the rest of the boat.

Not a winning design IMHO.

I'd like to see one of these boats in person.

Does anyone know if Hall's here in GR/Standale has one in their showroom?

I like it. Can I get one in bleu? What is the max HP rating? Will it fit 25 people?

They have the H180 OB at the Muskegon showroom. You can see it at the GR Boat Show 2/16 thru 2/20.

I'll be comparing the new H180OB against the new 2000BRX Checkmate at the G.R. Mi show.

There is NO comparison between those two boats. Except that they are outboard powered.
Checkmate is 20' long, has ability to handle over 150HP and costs over $40K
H180OB is barely 18 ft., and costs about $24K.

Rarely see a checkmate at the GR show, what dealer is bringing it ???

Seelye-Wright Toy Store has picked up the dealership for this region. The reason I mention the BRX is that it also has a controversial design element. Also, isn't the H180 rated for 130 HP?
The BRX is $29k with a 115 Opti..........

Note, none of their showroom's open until 1/31/11. So no need to hurry.

Thanks for the heads up.

That seems like something they would put on their website.

I plan to go to the GR show. I'll look at it then.

Ok, i wasn't ripping on any one persons boat, only the looks and that of the new OB H180. As for that boat having the same performance as our H2210SS......lolololol, NO Way, not a chance!!! That new H180 OB has nothing on the H210ss. From front to back, power plant and over all design that 180 doesn't compare, not one bit IMHO!

I stand by what I said. Note that for the performance comment I was talking about my boat. Also note that I stated "similar" performance up to 47-48 MPH. You have the top end covered for sure.

Based on your comments, I would assume that you have never actually played with an outboard powered boat. You might want to give it a shot some time. You might be surprised.

I may have been a little "grumpy" when I posted my last response.

I meant to include things about how nice verpoort's H210 SS looks. It is a fantasitc looking boat. I'd be more than happy to own one. It is a "sport" boat in all the right ways.

I also meant to mention that outboards aren't for everyone. I understand that some people don't like the appearance. I have to admit that while I am completely used to the appearance of an outboard, I like the flowing lines of the H210 and other boats of similar design.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Especially when it comes to "beauty".

I also meant to mention that I would guess this new H180 OB with a 130 HP E-tec will perform pretty close to, if not slightly better, than my boat.

I guess some of my grumpiness lies in the general boat buying public as a whole. There seems to be this stigma attached outboard motors that is either completely irrational or based on bad or out of date information.

Outboards are highly engineered and extremely specialized for the application they are intended for. There are very few compromises in their design compared to automotive based sterndrives.

Pound for pound (HP for HP) an outboard will outperform pretty much any I/O. It will be really interesting to see side by side comparisons of the H180 I/O with a 135 (3.0) VP/Merc compared to a H180 OB with a 130 HP E-Tec.
