Stopped by PhilDil yesterday and picked up an impeller kit.

I'll probably install tomorrow. I'll try to photo document it.

As a matter of interest, are the two O rings the same size, or slightly different because they are used in different applications?

Thanks. As they are using the same impellor for diesel and petrol engines, you'd think they would have standardised on one O ring size, as well wouldn't you, ? Or would that be too obvious ; nothing to do with the design of boat bits surprises me anymore!

Ok, here goes. This wasn't nearly as easy as some have reported, at least for me. The biggest issue as you'll see from these pic's was access. I had a real hard time removing and inserting the bottom screw on the impeller housing(sp), it was a blind removal for the most part. After moving around a bit I found that the best position was actually laying on the rear deck with the seatback push forward and my arms hanging in the access hole.

Access Pannel

Access Pannel removed and as you can see the impeller sits well below the cutout in the access pannel.

Here's a much better shot of the impeller housing.

Here it is removed.

Ok, my next question is did I get all my drain plugs back in the right place? They all fit and I was able to put them in very snug. I don't know if you'll be able to tell from these pictures. I guess I'll find out when I water test and run the engine. Not going to do that yet as it's suppose to hit freezing or close to it tonight. I hope someone can tell if I put these back right or not?

If they screwed in...should be fine.

Did you plug in the water and test her out?

I can't comment about the blue plugs; my engine doesn't have them,

However, I would recommend you use (M5 or the equivalent American thead) Cap head bolts instead of the OEM screws ; much easier and less chance of then falling in the bilge,

Impulse - if I recall, on my 5.0, the engine sat just a little higher and it seems like mine was a little easier to get to...maybe I am wrong. I will take some pics next week when I get to mine, which will probably be next Thursday.

My boat does not have the blue plugs either. Mine has all brass plugs. Looks like you got them all in ok though. Finally got around to looking for an engine owners manual and man that thing has got some good info in it. I was able to down load it online, but I also ordered one. Much easy to have the book in your hand and it was way to many pages to try and print.

This is why I have a computer in my garage... but then again, most of us don't store the boat at home.

The existing impeller looks fine, I'd just put it back and keep the new one as a spare.

Psych!

I do keep my boat at home also and could take the laptop out to the garage, but just easier to have the book on hand. Don't wanna have my grubby hands on our computer when in the garage. It was only $35.00 for the manual. Not to bad for the info it contains.
