OK so I'm talking rain water here not water leaking in from the lake. fortunately none of that. It comes through my "dust covers" which I know is expected but the fact that it pools in a few places in annoying and I'm wondering if it's OK to drill drain holes. The boat is stored outside for the summer. I get water collecting in all 4 cup holder recesses on the sides, this includes 2 in front that are recessed into the side and the two in the rear also recessed into the side near the speakers. Also under the cushions which are on either side of the walk through I guess you would call these the sun deck cushions, on top of the engine cover. lifting the engine cover allows these to drain off onto the swim platform but I cant go raise the engine cover every time it rains. has anyone drained these? do the front ones drain into the carpeted front storage areas. this would not be ideal. any ideas are appreciated. thanks |

Get a mooring/trailering cover for the whole boat. Put that over the existing canvas. That is what I did, and the boat is always dry after a rain. Drilling holes does not sound like a real good fix. |

Quote: I'm wondering if it's OK to drill drain holes. I did. Through the plastic ones, right? Our boats are probably set up a little different, but everything should drain to the back. |

My boat has two stainless cupholders in the very front that aren't covered by the bow cover. When it rains the cupholders get rain in them, and they have drains but would drain into the carpeted storage area under the bow seats. I attached some clear tubing to the cupholders and routed it to the anchor locker so the rainwater would be routed there and into the bilge rather than getting my carpeted storage areas and everything in them wet. Im sure your boat is laid out differently than mine, but that may be idea you can use. |
