Hey guys, I've just stumbled across this forum after looking for info about my Fourwinns horizon with 5.0 Volvo 5.0 Gxi engine and was hoping someone might be able to offer some advice! The boat was recently serviced no according to the boatyard was running great. We came to use it a couple of weeks ago and it just wouldn't start - it cranked nice and quickly but just wouldn't catch and no sign of life at all. The boatyard went out to it again and eventually got it going with fresh fuel and a battery booster, but it still won't start on its own. They say it needs to be hooked up to a diagnostics machine but they don't have one (I'm in the uk and there are no fourwinns dealers around here). I was just wondering if anyone knew what type of diagnostic cable and software would be required, so that I could try and track them down or buy them myself? Many thanks in advance! Dom |

Depending on what year boat you have, will determine the type of connection you need. Volvo diagnostic software is about $600 US for the CD, and the cable is about $150. Use a laptop to run the software when plugged in. Expensive items to just run out and buy, if you can even get them in the UK quickly. |

You can browse the torrents and newsgroups and find MEFIBurn for "free" to download, but you still need the cable which runs $150-$200. or http://www.ebay.com/itm/CodeMate-MEFI-C ... 4f&vxp=mtr |
