I was installing a fish finder last weekend, so was poking around under my dash of my 2009 H180 and came across this interesting item..
Image[/url]

It appears to be some sort of sensor, but all my gauges seem to be functioning correctly. It has a large length of wire bundled up, so I assume it's likely supposed to be moved somewhere ( stern perhaps?) It has two mounting holes pre-drilled..

Can you identify this for me?
Cheers
Neil

Looks like some sort of antenna wire. What is it plugged into?

Not sure, the wire comes out of the big taped 'bundle' of wires, making it almost impossible to know where it goes :-(

My radio is on the other side and I did 'see' the antenna wire, as I was also trying to track the two power leads for the radio..

Could 4winns generically have a wiring kit that has radio antenna wires included?

Could it be an air temperature node? Do you have air temp on one of the gauges?

Looks like a satellite radio antenna to me.

Without an actual schematic, only way to find out is to run it down to its source...

Does the label on the cable say anything useful? What does the other side look like?

Cable had a tag on it... said something like revision 2.3.1 which wasn't very helpful. I can't recall if there was any writing on the wire itself.
Here is photo of other side.

Does your boat have a speedo gauge? A 2008 Volvo SX drive has a built in pitot port so that could be Speedo hose and some one has "capped" it off so it doesn't pour water into your boat

Could also be a depth sounder transducer, though it looks a little weird if it is one.

Sorry if this comes up twice, I do not see my original reply. I have something similiar on my 2010 H-210. On mine it is the water temp sensor that is part of the depth gauge. For some reason Four Winns does not install these even though it is a part of the gauge.

I'll check this weekend if my depth gauge has any 'temp' settings...

Followup question.. where would one mount this sensor, on the floor, near the depth transponder?
