I just purchased a 1996 170 Horizon and the family is so excited! This is our first boat, as we traded in all of our desert/sand toys for the water. My question is does anyone know where I can get a bow and cockpit tonneau covers for it? The interior is almost perfect and I want to preserve it as much as possible

Once I figure out how to attach images I will post a few

Thanks

Nice boat! The best way (and cheapest) is to have the snap in covers made by a local boat canvas shop. The sun really beats on the fiberglass so if you get the chance hit up iboats.com and get a nice custom full cover also. My neighbor keeps his boat tied to the dock, so he purchased a full custom cover and had some "pockets" sewn into it where the cleats are so he could tie his dock lines to the boat with the cover on and full protection. Not the easiest thing to put on in the water but the boat stays showroom condition.

Thanks for the advice ric. We purchased the 17' so that we can keep it in the garage to avoid the brutal AZ sun. I just wanted to bow and cockpit tonneau cover for transporting to and from the lake.

Chances of finding the bow and cockpit covers are slim to not. I just had a set made for mine by a local shop.

Thanks for the replies, does anyone know where I can find out oem information on my Horizon? Im trying to figure out what the oem prop is on my boat. I have the Volvo Penta SX Cobra outdrive and a 4.3L Volvo Penta engine. It looks like the prop is a 14 1/2 x18 or 19, does that make sense?

Four Winns removed that info for now while they update their site. 14.5x19 sounds correct. There should be a plaque on the outdrive saying the ratio like 1.60 or something. That should be a 190hp v6 in a 17ft boat, it will scream. Probably could go with a 21 pitch prop, maybe even 23. Depending on the ratio and how it performs on the water. The best thing you can do is get it out on a calm day with just you and not much gas with a GPS (smartphone app?). See what it does wide open. You want max RPM's to be around 4800 so if you go over slow down and report back and the many smart ppl on here can help you get the right prop.

What is the goal with the boat? Just Cruising getting good gas? towing (tube, wakeboard)? hauling butt? What you want to do will be a factor in what prop to get.

I had that same engine on a 19'7" cuddy, and ran a 14.5" x 19p (SST) that was perfect, so I suspect you would want to go up to a 21p

Regarding taking care of that nice interior, there are a lot of threads on this website dedicated to the art of cleaning and preserving your vinyl. The short version is:
1. Plane water wipe up and dry for basic cleaning.
2. 303 brand Fabric/Vinyl cleaner when needed
3. Lysol wipes for minor mold & meldew removal
4. Mr Clean "Magic Eraser" for stubborn cleanup
...And most important of all:
5. 303 brand "Aerospace Protectant" as protection and sunscreen for you vinyl

Nice looking boat....window tinting would cut down on glare, look sharp and cool down your helm a little.
