Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum but have found very useful info surfing it.
I have a 2004 230 Horizon Bowrider and love it, anyways i just connected a Jenson jPort iPod adapter into my factory Clarion XMD3 stereo and it only plays on my front speakers, i can actually turn to my tuner and play the radio on my rear speakers at the same time the ipod is playing on the front speakers without it even being on AUX mode?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Very strange that you could play the tuner in back at same time as the iPod/aux in front. The bow speakers do not run thru the amp, only the rears and sub do. This however would not explain your predicament.

Just figured this one out the hard way a few weeks ago on my 268 Vista (same Clarion head unit as yours). There are 3 sets of RCA plugs on the back of this unit and only one feeds the Aux input. The others are amp pre-out and something else, I never could find a concise breakdown of what each does. I ended up reconnecting my iPod adapter to (I think) the set of plugs with the red wiring (one set is gray, one set is red, the other black) to get the aux in input. Also I had to change the input level in the menus to high in order to get it to pick it up. That's the crucial step, otherwise the pre-amp set of plugs is the only set that will play any sound if you are using the "plug and listen" method. Mine would only play through the front speakers and I had no volume control from the head unit itself, but setting the volume to 0 would kill it completely, go figure. After connecting to the right set of plugs and fixing input level, everything worked great!

A quick google on the model should get you some more specific info as to adjusting the input level, without the unit in front of me I can't remember which button gets you to that particular menu.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Jack,

I just figured it out after trying to install a different brand adapter. Thought i tried all three sets of wires the first time but i guess not!
The one pair of wires says sub-woofer, and i'm guessing the other are for another speaker, perhaps tow speaker option maybe.
Glad i didn't have to buy a new deck, my kids were driving me crazy "we need an ipod plug dad"

Mike
