I thought I'd share an install I'm in the process of completing on my Horizon RS.

Amplifier is a Response Monoblock, rated at 1000Wrms (600Wrms @ 2ohm)
Sub is a 10" Inter Fire, dual 4ohm, rated to 1000Wrms.
Cabling is 4AWG OFC (both + & - runs to auxilliary deep cycle battery) and Stinger RCA's.
Trim ring to suit curved fibreglass panel & back bracing is all 12mm ply.
Cost me all of about $40, as I had these bits lying around... :P

My boat rattles somewhat, now!

That sub is rated for a .95 cubic foot sealed enclosure. You're running it in maybe a 5 cubic foot unsealed enclosure. You're getting almost nothing out of that sub sound wise and you will break it very quickly.

That amp is a class A style. It will drain your batteries dead in under 1 hour of running the system even on quiet with the engine off.

I wouldn't recommend what you installed to anyone on this forum unless it's a guide of how not to do a subwoofer install. No hard feelings :)

This cheap sub actually models quite well via it's Thielle & Small Parameters in an infinate baffle setup.
Larger enclosures/ IB do not offer good damping, so I've set the Class D Monoblock's subsonic filter a little higher (just under 30Hz), to limit over excursion from the uber low notes.
Not trying to sound like as ass, but rather let people think you're stupid, than prove it to them by opening your mouth.
No hard feelings. :)

Where exactly is your battery compartment?

Starboard side, rear compartment - next to the engine box.
Both batteries are a tight squeeze!

Nice! I have a 99 220 and will soon work on adding a second battery. Unfor my design doesn't have a battery compartment so I'll need to route my second battery to the starboard port side.

I mounted my second battery under the Port side rear seat so that it balanced the weight out a bit. Does your boat list to the starboard? Two batteries and the Captain on the starboard, better have some heavy coolers on the other side.

Here is my second battery. Scroll down.

I really like your set up! :D Did you run the wiring all the way around the back to get from the stereo to the port side or fish it through somewhere?

Nice, just put some caps on those battery pos posts in case you ever drop a wrench in there.

If the comments were towards my picture  :

I do have the caps on both batteries. That picture was just after I finished installing.

I made my own battery cables and ran them from the port side to the starboard along the stern (secured in there) as my Perko switch was on the starboard side.

All my wiring runs down the starboard side up under the gunnel and is zip tied in up under there. I have blue lights under them as well. The only place I have, so far, run wiring is for the under helm and gunnel lights and I ran those just forward of the ski locker.

The other thing I got off of the Coast Guards boatbuilders regs was to replace the wingnuts with nyloc nuts with lockwashers because they do not loosen like wingnuts can. When I redid my batt wiring I used marine quality clamps that are bolted on the cable terminal ends with nyloc nuts and lock washers. They make a nice secure installation with good surface area on the large posts.

Yeah, she does. :x
This will be a winter project of mine to re-locate the starting battery to the aft, port locker.
The battery boxes have been screwed in to the glass, so I'll need to do more flowcoating to seal the holes - again. :?
Your setup looks great. Any chance of a photo of your wiring & batt selector, please?
