Post subject:  1997 Horizon RX - Running new speaker wire

As the heading might suggest, I am looking to run new speaker wire from the head unit to the speakers located at each stern seat. I have removed the starboard bow seat back and see that all the wiring goes down under the deck in a PVC looking pipe. I am not sure where this comes out however. I can feel that the speaker wire goes up and around some loops in the rear but I can't feel or see where they go. Can anyone please tell me where the wires are running under the deck (hull area) so that I might be able to snake some new wire back through there?

Thanks

The wiring conduit should come out on the starboard side of your bilge area, behind your fuel tank.
Unless you're running a 30+Wrms amplifier, you stock (un-corroded) wiring will be more than sufficient for your head unit's power.

I might give that a try. I ended up checking my wires and it seems it was just a miswire at the head unit that was just replaced. All seems well now but I might try new wire one of these days if it keeps up or turns out to be corroded.

Thanks for replying

Is it at all possible to tie the new wire to the old one and pull it through?

That will really depend on how tightly zip tied the old cable is, to the rest of the loom!
