I have a 210 H180 with Volvo penta 4.3 I brought it in to marina in January for its first 100 hour service. I asked the shop to look into 3 or 4 minor issues I've been having, and gave them a copy of my extended VP which I purchased for around $1500 when I bought the boat new in September 2009. The shop called me back a few days later and said that each of the four items was covered by the warranty. Excellent, I thought. I'll be out the 700 or so for the 100 hour service but nothing further.
When the shop called back to say the work was done, they said the warranty wouldn't agree to cover all the labor. Apparently they only cover a certain number of hours for certain repairs (ex. 1.5 to cover changing a pump, etc.), and nothing further. My mechanic says it took them longer to fix the issues than the time allotted by warranty, both because of time needed to troubleshoot and then sea trials afterward. The shop is on the water but about 20 minutes from the point where the driver can open the throttle.
Anyway, the bill came out to $1500 which included the 100 hour service, but was still a shocker. I didn't know about the allotted labor hour thing. When the shop said the repairs were covered by warranty, I took that to mean no cost to me for the repairs. If I had known there was going to be a charge, I could have chosen to forego or postpone the repairs. Instead I'm going to have to put it on a credit card which I'm not thrilled about.
Anyone have experience with this situation before? I like the marina and I'm trying to see it from their point of view, but dang. Not sure what to think or do about it.

You got scammed. Plain and simple. All I ever had to pay was the deductible which is like $36 bucks.

Without knowing the full story, it's difficult to comment.
What were the 4 minor warranty issues they addressed?

Id go back and read the warrantee terms carefully. Normally, with an extended warrantee on vehicles, you pay a deductible and thats it. Not sure how it works on boats since I have never had a new one. I did have to get the carb replaced on our Suzuki outboard for the dinghies but that was covered on the new engine warrantee 100%. Usually when it takes longer than the flat rate manual allows with vehicles they don't charge you more, but it could be different so I'd read and ask questions.

At the very least, the shop should have made you aware of the extra charges and asked for authorization for the work above and beyond what the warranty covers. That is where I would have a real problem with things. Although, if you signed the work order when you left the boat, you probably authorized the work without realizing it. If you didn't sign it, I would refuse to pay on the basis of no authorization.

Regardless, it would be the last time I would ever deal with them!

When the boat shop fixed my trim motor under warranty they did it on a Saturday. The mechanic didn't get done til 7pm well past closing. No extra charges just the 36 dollar Volvo deductible. They wanted me to enjoy my boat on Sunday. I gave the mechanic a $50 tip for saving my Sunday fun day. Boat tune is an awesome shop. They're currently doing the survey on my chap.
