I am looking at a 2001 H200 with a VP Gi (I believe its rated at 250 HP). The boat is super clean and was serviced prior to storing indoors 2 years ago. It only has 100.5 hours on it. The owner told me that the boat for 2001 as a H200 is the same boat as a H210 for year 2002 and 2003. I see that the length is 20.6 compaired to 21.6. Is this information correct. Do you guys think that 16.5 is a good asking price for a 2001? I had my mind set on a 2005 or newer H210 with a 5.7. But if the boat has no corrosion and a decent top speed at 250 HP. I wouldn't mind saving a few bucks. Said its been is brakish water "salt" twice. Thoughts please. (see message.)

"Well a little history on Four Winns, if my boat was a 2002 it would be a H210. A 2002 H210 is the same boat as a 2001 H200 and a 2003 H200. They just go back and forth between the sizes and odd even years. She is in great condition. I only have 100.5 hours on the motor. No scratches on the hull, no tears or marks on the interior. I had it serviced 2 years ago and it is kept in a garage year round. Does have a dead battery right now but one charge and it will be good. I will forward you more pictures so you see how clean the inside of the boat is. Just to let you know I will not drop the price because of the shape the boat is in. "

I know from what you posted I am not real sure what I would do, but take this website and do the research for your self. http://www.fourwinns.com/content/custom ... alogs.aspx

I know there are folks on here that are more knowledgable here than I so I am sure they will be chiming in soon.

Thanks Capt. Hoss. That information helped. The 2002 and 2003 H210 is 20.6 Ft. The guy is dead on ;) How about top speed. Anyone out there have a 305 VP 5.0Gi?

Well it really depends on a few things, but the site says 49-52 MPH with the Gi/SX drive and Gi/DP 50-53MPH. Now, your MPH will be different because of factors like, clean vs. dirty hull, total weight of boating supplies, Fuel level, folks in the boat, the shape the prop is in, etc all factors apply here. Most folks here will tell you that the speedo on the boat don't work right, you have to check it with GPS.
Now I am going to pay my dues and let you know before I came to this site I knew nothing, everything I have told you I have learned from this site. I hope you stick around, and am able to suck up some of this knowledge as well. Welcome Aboard!

Thank You. I am a bit worried about the boat being 12 years old. I am planning on bringing someone more knowledgeable to check for corrosion from storing the boat. Not sure how to check without pulling drain plug? It has been in doors and below the freeze zone. I think it should be okay. Would hate to have him take it out for a test run adding another .5 miles to his meter. 16.5 is still a chunk of change for us. Just want to be sure she will hold up as we live on a lake and the boat will take on good family use.

I would be a little concerned about how few hours the boat has on it. That is not even 10 hours per year! Personally I would be more comfortable with 250-500 hours to know that it was used regularly... so don't feel bad asking for a on-water trial. That is absolutely necessary.

Other than that, it sounds like a cream puff. What options does it have? Covers? Trailer type and condition?

My first thought is that 16.5 is 2-4k high, but I could be wrong. If it is the right boat for you and you will keep it a long time, then book values are not too important anyway.

Good luck.

Thanyou for the advice.. The trailer is not Galvanized. Not planning on saltwater trips. Double axle fourwinns with surge breaks.. Dont know it the toung folds or not. The low hours is a concern. Said the impeller was changed last year.. Does that mean the block might have been drained at the time?... Any way.. I keep looking at the 200 and it looks small compaired to a 210. I remember my Dads 88 Horizon 210 looking huge with that teak deck. I would hate to pass up a mint boat.. But would prefer a 210 I think. I will be seeing it soon. Maybe in person it will seem bigger. Plus i am waffeling on the 250 HP. Better on gas.. but I am big guy who is wanting to learn how to wake board. :)

I don't think you'll notice much difference between 280hp and 250hp, but I'm not an engine guy...If you want to wakeboard, I think you would want to be looking at going with a 4 blade ss prop (assuming it's not a dp drive) of the correct pitch in order to plane out faster and pull you at slower speeds. A couple of things to note, for some reason there appears to be a insurance price change above 250hp, so it could be a little cheaper on that front. I took a quick look at FW website and as noted the 2001 H200 and 2002 H210 have identical loa/beam, so I think you just may be hung up on the number difference. Now, if you go back to an 88 H210, I don't think the loa included the platform, so that would certainly add some length to the boat. You can add a swim platform to get out to 22'3" but that adds a fair amount of cost after the fact. Another item on the perception of the boat size, does the boat have back to back seats or swivel seats and the sunsport? I think the layout of the boat has a lot to do with how much room it seems to have. Personally, I prefer the sunsport seating setup. Lastly, something to consider is the 2001 has the VDO dash where the 2002+ has standard gauges. If you do a quick search on here, you'll see the numerous issues with the VDO clusters (gauges not working, swapping out, etc). I don't think it's a deal breaker, but something to consider. If the price is right and the boat is in great condition, I would be hard pressed to pass it up. Sorry for the random rambling, but just tossing out a few things to consider on the 2001 vs 2002+. Good luck!

Thank You for the advice. I like rambling. I think the boat will be worth the money. Maybe a bit overpriced. Your correct. The SP was not included in the length of the boat in the 80's. I am trying to get down there to look her over and will be asking to have the seller recommend a mechanic to look over everything. I am trying to be fair as I don't want bring a mechanic and have it seam bios. My biggest concern is the less than 10 hrs per year and corrosion due to not being flushed during normal run time. My gut feeling is the boat has been well cared for. Its the stuff that you cant see. Also, might ask for a sea trial... But that will break 100 hours.

A sea trial is a MUST for buying a used boat. If you and the seller a pretty sure a deal can be made then there is no issue on doing it. Compare it to a car would you buy a car without a test drive? Most buyers and salesmen would say no.
