Anyone have this latch and have the same issues I have? For me, it requires constant adjustment to latch correctly with the aluminum catch strip. I've also had a few occasions where the sunpad has raised while towing without the cover (although I usually use the cover). I haven't found a good alternative, but really haven't explored. It's a 2002 H190. I appreciate any suggestions. ![]() ![]() |

I have the exact same issue ![]() I haven't found a solution, nor have I explored much to figure one out. Hopefully some of the guru's will chime in with a nice solution. |

Yeah, it is crappy. It's a logical device, but the problem is that the mating position between the aluminum strip that it latches on and the sunpad latch moves due to flexing of the back seat support, the sunpad hinges, slop in the latch mounting, etc. It's not a trainwreck, but I really want to make it more robust - especially for towing. I should probably mention that I maintain everything to the point of being retentive about it.... |

Hi guys! I had the same problem. I just installed a set of fastex clips to hold it down. Works great. Will add pics tomorrow once I get off the water. My boat (used) didn't come with covers so I had to improvise so I could trailer it. 4 screws, 1 clip, 10 minutes of work keeps it secure enough to and from the landing. |

Put some chalk or something that rubs off on the latch surface to see how much it grabs. You might have some wiggle room to screw it in closer. Even another 1/4in closer to the mating surface will make a big difference. |

To be honest I hadn't thought of using chalk or baby powder - and I do stuff like that every day at work. I think I'm definitely gonna modify the aluminum catch strip. If I recall, the one it came with was real thin and bent and I've replaced it once with something a little beefier. |
