My wife and I recently inherited her father's 93 Horizon 210 with the OMC 5.8 liter Cobra. It has been very well maintained and has 320 hours. I'm just getting into the forum and wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm hoping to learn about my boat and engine/drive, any tips or advice regarding my type of boat would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone, we are heading out on the boat today wish us luck!

The Cobra system was a good one but it does have some quirks that you need to be aware of . One is the proper way to re-fill the outdrive after draining the drive oil, you have to fill it from the plug that is on the starboard side of the lower unit that is right by the joint between the upper and lower gear housings. NOT the bottom most plug on the forward edge of the lower gear housing (that is used to drain). Most Cobras except the ones behind the 460 Fords took 64 oz of gear oil so you have to make sure you get in that much.
The other quirk is the shift cable adjustment, that has to be right on and the cable has to operate smoothly for these to shift right. If it has a good cable and it is adjusted properly, they shift very easily. If its stiff and sticky or jumps out of gear get it fixed right away.
Otherwise not much different than any other I/O powertrain. The easily replaced raw water impeller in the rear section of the upper gear unit is a nice feature. Much easier than a Merc Alpha that makes you split the drive housings to do the impeller.
