I am looking to get new impellers. I prefer to buy locally like at a Napa auto parts. Anyone know what the part number is? It's for 2004 Four Winns 250 Horizon 5.7GXI Duo. My trim gauge needle is not moving at all. Looks like I have to get a new trim gauge??? If so, can you tell me a website to get it? I would like it to be an OEM. Thank you! Alex |

Its probably the sending unit on the drive, not the gauge. I've replaced several on my OMC Cobra over the years. The one that lasted the longest (salt water) believe it or not was a Sierra aftermarket one. For impellers I like to get the OE if I can. |

VP #3849411. That's the "new" number they came out with in 2007 due to the frequent failures they were having on the previous unit. It's possible that your '08 boat still has one of the older senders. Adjustment after the new unit is installed: Put the drive down. Adjust the sender's position until the resistance across the sender leads is between 10-12 ohms. |

Alex Alex, on your GXI, if you look at the information plate on the motor where the serial number is, can you tell me any other letters that might be after the GXI portion? From what I see, for the impellers, there is two possible impeller part numbers for GXI, depending on what further designation there is? |

The issue with these senders is that depending on the boat they can be very difficult to replace. The difficult part is that the wiring goes into a rubber plug in the transom mount near the water intake hose. The wires pass thru and come out near the steering arm on the inner transom mount. There is a nearly un reachable clip tha secures that plug in the hole in the mount. My mechanic came up with a better way. He drilled a hole in the side of the transom mount and ran the wire for the sender out this hole and then up the transom like a transducer cable. Makes it a 20 min job instead of a scream fest in the engine compartment. |

Well before you buy the sensor, climb in and see if you can see and reach where the wires come out of the inner transom mount. If you can get at them and the clip that holds the plug in, then go for it. Of course you can always do the same mod my mechanic did and take the easy way out and have a working trim gauge.... |
