I am wondering if anyone has painted bedliner on their trailer. It looks badass. I am thinking about doing that. I want it to be murdered out lol. My truck is murdered out. If I start working on it I will post pics for sure.

Well the problem with that is... The trailer will rust under the shell of Bedliner and you'll never know it. Bad things can happen. If its ugly but no rust sell it for a pretty penny and pick up a aluminum one

That's exactly what Four Winns does now with "GatorHyde".. it's like a rhino liner. The trailer is hot dipped galv so it won't rot out. It looks bad ass.. GO FOR It!!

All that's gonna do, is hold moisture against the galvanization and rot it out. That is a fact of life of galvanized trailers. When they get old they get ugly. When painted trailers get old they fall apart. Not much you can do besides buying a new or newer one. Or an aluminum one. Even they get old looking too but it takes years.

How do you come up with that? Paint is going to hold moisture against the metal?? I've never heard that one before.

Paint and bedliner are two different things. Paint doesn't contribute to corrosion, nor does it conceal it. I like the look of the bedliner trailers, but opted against it for this reason.

I'm referring to any bedliner type material not paint. As soon as you get cracks in the surface water gets in and can't get out. Holding the moisture there will allow rusting to start. And yes galvanized trailers do rust eventually especially here in salt water. The only thing you can do, is spray with cold galvanizing spray, which is a dull grey coating that looks the same as galvanizing. But it won't look much better. Painting galvanized steel with regular paint is difficult.

I've never heard that "bedliner material" isn't considered to be a type of paint. I "painted" my galvanized trailer with an automotive bedliner material/paint (whatever you want to call it) (see thread here: http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9537) and don't agree that it will reduce the life of a galvanized trailer. "Bedliner material" isn't anything more than a thick, abrasion-resistant paint. It isn't going to hold moisture against a painted surface any more than regular paint (properly applied) would. I primed my entire trailer with self-etching primer and didn't have any problem applying the bedliner material/paint with my compressor and the "gun" that came with the kit I used. I purchased the kit from an automotive paint store so it was sold under their own name but it is the same product sold as Raptor bedliner paint by U-Pol.
