Just looking for a few alternatives to the SAE30 oil the FW manual recommends. I live in Miami so it's hot all year round.

thanks!

An oil thread - yay!
Find a current 'API SN' rated, fully synthetic engine oil in either a 15w50 or 20w60.
Your engine will have a flat tappet cam, so try find an oil with a high zinc content.

lol! I know, I know.

I recently changed the oil on my engine to Pennzoil HD sae 30 (the only sae 30 I could find around here) and for the first time I got a low oil pressure alarm while at idle speeds. The alarm clears at high speeds. I purchased the boat mid last year so I'm not sure what the previous owner used. I know it could be a few things but like I said the only thing I've changed since it started was the oil.

thanks!

That is odd because I used to use Chevron Delo 400 straight 30 in mine and I never got low oil pressure readings even at hot slow idle.
Straight 30 was what OMC specified years ago but Merc recommended 40 for temps over 50 degrees. You could switch to that, or use the Merc 25/40, or the Delo 15/40...

Marine engines do not get built with tolerances as small as auto' applications & generally require a thicker oil.
Most old school Chev based blocks love to run on high zinc 15w50's or 20w50's (dependant on application/ engine condition).
A boat running at full RPM (speed) is like a car being run on a dyno at full load - but constantly.
Running a thicker operating weight of oil i.e 15w50 will assist in higher operating (hot) oil pressure.
