Hi

Been having a no pressure alarm on my dash since I changed my oil. I was able to put a mechanical oil gauge where the sender goes and I'm getting 50/60 PSI at idle.
I just noticed the following cable hanging right above the oil filter but I have no idea what it is. Could someone point out what it's for? It also looks like a bolt is missing right above it. Could any of these be the reason why my dash shows no oil pressure at all?

That looks an awful lot like an oil pressure sending unit with the wire connector corroded off.

I have a 2001, and have done a lot of research and troubleshooting for a similar problem. I cannot confirm that the wiring didn't change between 1999 and 2001, but I suspect it's the same. What I can tell you is that for 2001, the OP sender that runs the dash gauge and alarm is a canister type that is mounted near the distributor and has a single light blue wire running to the dash. In 2001, the OP sender like in your picture runs the low-pressure alarm that is in the engine compartment, completely independent from the dash. If this wire is disconnected, it will disable the alarm, not set it off.

As with you, I installed a mechanical gauge to confirm I do, actually, have good oil pressure. I have concluded that my problem was with the VDO cluster, as I would get an intermittent false low oil pressure alarm and the gauge on the dash would bounce all over the place or read "0". Based on the age of your boat, you originally had the VDO cluster. If it hasn't been replaced, I'd suspect the cluster.
