I have a 2008 180 Horizon, 4.3 carborated Volvo Penta. While running at no wake the motor suddenly quit. Had a hard time getting it restarted, finally got it running but only maintained at high speed. Shut off as soon as I went back to idle. Now it will turn over but not start at all. Any ideas before I spend $$$$ in repairs? Thanks for any help.

Carb issue, dirty or clogged low speed jets. Change fuel filter and get the carb cleaned.

Mine had similar issues last year and the season before. Mine was more related to running for awhile on plane then slowing to a no wake and she would die fairly quick and be extremely hard to start up. basically would have to sit for an hour or more.

my problem turned out to be the Accelerator pump on the carb, for what it's worth. The Accelerator pump had a slice in it and the shop guys at Lake Powell called it just by my description. I thought it was vapor locking. pulled the pump and sure enough about a 1/8" slit in the diaphragm.

If it had a bad power valve, it would run really rich at idle, and rough when running.

If it had a bad accelerator pump, it would idle but hesitate/stumble under throttle.

No idle, only runs when fast are symptoms of a pretty serious vacuum leak.
