My Dad seems to think there is a problem with our Volvo Penta sx cobra outdrive. When we have our engine hooked up to the water and running there is water coming out of the what im guessing is the exhaust. I don't know how to completely explain but as you can see in the video what I'm talking about. Everything seems to be working fine to me. No weird sounds or anything out of the ordinary. http://youtu.be/ULHu-fGCJhg |

The exhaust bellow is either broken, cracked, slipped off. Doesn't hurt a thing. I took mine off on my last boat. BUT!!!!!!!! Signs of a cracked or worn out exhaust bellow also means the driveshaft bellow is also in bad condition. If that one has a crack or a leak it WILL break things and cost you a minimum of near $1000 to fix. They're supposed to be changed out every 3-5 years. SO.. Yes, something needs attention. Please have the drive and exhaust bellows changed out. Only costs around $300 to have a mechanic do, and could save you thousands. |

How is your idle speed water temp? Should be around 160*. Most of the water will come from where it does on yours. It looks like someone removed the exhaust bellows that's why it's a bit louder than normal. I'd turn the muffs so tha they are oriented vertically instead of horizontally that will give you better water flow. That way the muffs line up with the water intake holes . I agree with the other post you should check the driveshaft bellows for sure. I'd pull the drive check for water in the bellows if it was not done recently. I do mine each year. |

Also do your engine a favor and get a set of muffs that supply water to both sides of the drive. |

Is it usable for a quick trip for two days? We do mostly sitting on a beach. |

Well seeing today is Monday, maybe call your shop and see if they got time this week to replace it all before your trip. Seeing how your trip is planned for this long I wouldn't chance things. I'm the same way, when I plan a big boat adventure I make sure everything is perfect. When was the last time the oil was changed in the drive? |

Not to long ago. We are always on top of it. I'll try to get into the shop but out here in Mission Viejo, CA shops are fairly hard to get in quick. |

Alright, thanks for everything. I'm waiting for a call back from my repair shop. Weird that they didn't see it or notice anything like this. We take it in each time at the beginning of the season. |

When I owned Volvo Penta even with five VP dealers within 10 miles of my house nobody ever had anything in stock. Not even a thermostat gasket for a 4.3GL the most common motor they ever made on a commonly serviced part. Had to wait a week! |

Don't know looks normal to me. Mine looks exactly like that . It is going to be loud just running water muffs on it . I know my bellows are ok too , they aren't very old . |
