Post subject:  Picking up my new H190 this Saturday, ski locker ??? for you

Hey everyone, picking up my new H190 this coming Saturday - yes, yes, I'll post pics when I get it ;-)

But first, I'd like to protect the fiberglass flooring in the ski locker. I'd prefer it to look as new when tossing stuff down there, and being unprotected I'm afraid nicks and dings will come soon without protection.

So, I've looked online and have found several different options.

The one that I am most interested in right now would be a rubber anti-fatigue or drainage mat (like the ones used in restaurant kitchens), and just plopping it down there. Seems to be the most cost effective way of protecting the fiberglass, while still allowing drainage. Thoughts???

Any other ideas?

Thanks a ton!
Steve

I have a 1996 190 Horizon, 5ltr fuel injected w/Volvo Penta SX drive. It came with a piece of carpet just like what was installed in the boat. Same color, same material. That was great for many years. I need to find another piece of that carpet as the original fell apart several years ago.
Good Luck with your new boat. Mine has been great!

That's what my boats have all come with... I guess I assume it was standard. Just pull it out periodically to wash. I got another matt and cut to size for my other lockers. Especially nice under the cooler and tube storage locker. Great to have all my stored stuff off the floor. It allows me to hose out the boat without the need to take everything out of the lockers. I think it was about $10 or so at the local hardware store.

Mine had carpet, that had gotten nasty.

I replaced it with 12" square interlocking drain mats. Sounds like what you are talking about. It works great and looks great.

Here is what I used:

I took that out and screwed it to the dock. Makes a nice mat

The plastic interlocking grid is the best thing to use there. Why would you put carpet in a place that will get damp and never dry out. No carpet in my boat; carpet in a boat with wood cores = rot.

Looks to be the same option LouC mentioned. Good stuff.

I used the Duragrid tiles from http://www.Bigfloors.com to line my ski locker and various storage compartments. The indoor tiles are more flexible than the exterior tiles.

You are right on track with the rubber drainage mat. I lined the anchor locker and all aft storage areas with same stuff.

My previous '95 Four Winns had some carpet down in the locker and it would always get nasty. One time I found a large mushroom growing out of the carpet... gross! new boat has a black plastic grid mat as pictured above... much better

I have the same boat, I got 8 squares of white Dri-Dek and they fit perfectly 2 across.

Another vote for Dri-Dec. I couldn't keep my carpet dry, try as I might. No more slime or smell!
