Hi, New to the Forum. Just bought a 2011 Four Winns Horizon 180 ob. I'm stressing over putting the cover on! It's a nightmare- took me an hour yesterday. Anybody out there familiar with it? I always covered my old boat after every use. I called Four Winns and they say that's just the way it is. Please- any tips or comments appreciated...

Welcome! Which cover did it come with? Is it the separate bow and cockpit snap on ones? If so, I hate those also. You can get a mooring/trailer (now called care cover) for about $800 from Four Winns. I have it and love it, about 5 minutes to get on once you get the strategy. It holds on with built-in ratchet straps.

I can't imagine any cover taking an hour on an 18 ft boat.

Please share some pictures.

Yes, Robopath it's the seperate bow and cockpit cover. It's taken the joy out of getting the new boat. I can't have it remade or modified because the snaps will be in the wrong place. I'm in my 60's and not too flexible. You have to get on your hands and knees and snap the cover under the windshield. I really don't know what to do. I guess I just have to keep trying or leave the cover off.

I have a 02 210 H with bow cover and back cover with snaps. It take about 5-10 min. Take a pic and send it.

Hal 35 does your cover have a zipper and goes over the windshield?

I have a cockpit cover for my '96 190. I roll the cover so that it sits on the windshieldwith the front leading edge resting along the snaps. Then I reach over the windshield and snap it in place. Then I walk it aft snapping it as I go, from side to side. My boat looks great with the bow and cockpit covers in place. Usually I use the full canvas cover that also came with the boat. That cover is to the point of tearing every time I touch it. I need to replace it. I should fess up, my boat lives in my garage most of the time. It has an easy life. Cars seem to come and go, but there aren't too many boats in my life.

Goos luck!

We owned a '95 190 Horizon for 18 years and covered it while trailering it between home and wherever we went boating every weekend. The tops were installed and removed for the trip to the water, and again for the return trip back home every time. We stored that boat in our garage and wanted it uncovered in the garage to air out, clean, or load up. I would enlist the help of my wife or son to roll the top up if they were there. We'd un-snap, then start at the back and roll it forward and up over the windshield. When I did it myself I re-purposed an aluminum rail from a set of vertical blinds (or some other stick that was maybe a foot wider than the boat. I'd lay this across the back of the boat and use it to roll the cockpit cover up. If needed, I could pull the stick out and fold the rolled up cover to fit in the truck box. Just a thought....I suppose you could use a long enough telescoping boat hook to roll the top, then keep the boat hook on the boat to use for docking, etc. To re-install the top, I'd lay the rolled-up top on the boat just ahead of the windshield, snap the front, then unroll and snap the rest of it to the boat. We usually left the bow cover installed unless we had hot weather or passengers for the front. You still may have to climb in and out of the boat, depending on how much help you have. We felt that using the rail or stick made the top more manageable when we were alone. Hope this helps.

And that, ladies and gentlemen , may just be part of the reason that we all do not boat in central Florida.

This is why most people here run fishing style boats that you don't have to cover because they are self bailing. I always keep mine covered. I have the seperate bow and cockpit covers. They take about 5 min to put on. If yours take that long I bet they don't fit right. I'd take the boat and covers to a good canvas shop and have them re-do them so the fit right. It will make a huge difference.

My Chap is self bailing, i normally don't cover it. The heat does more damage than the sun.
