Hi Guys

Winter is now official in Melbourne so I have started on my list of projects, starting with LED lighting around the boat. Purchased LED's from local store and they were 10 pods of 3 LED's per pod with a cable in between. IP67 rated as well.

Cut the pods off and installed with 3M double sided tape ( after cleaning surface with acetone). Connected to Courtesy light switch on dash and ran cable around the rear of the boat, cutting soldering and heat shrinking each pod to the cable.

There is now a pod at the drivers and passengers feet, both sides of the boat, at the rear seats, and I have also put 2 in the engine compartment above the rear access hatches. Total cost AU$60.00. Took about 5 hours taking my time and fixing a few things as I went and 2 trips to the hardware store ( Bunnings)

The carpets in the side pockets were coming off so these were glued back on while I was there. Radio has been removed ( see hole on right of steering wheel) and chucked out. Was a Clarion  ... never seen a working one before - always broken, so will replace with something else.

End result:

Nice white lighting for cleaning up the boat after docking, but will do a number on your eyes while trying to use them while under way. You'll loose your natural night vision. The other fellow with the blue lights will make out well. I changed my OEM white bulbs out to blue for effects while anchored/moored, but I too am considering some white lights for the overall general scene lighting.

Na Mate, it's a fan to dry out the carpets after we took it out for a winter run in the bay. At Melbourne temps the carpet will not dry unassisted even in my garage.

I am planning to install a boat heater so we can warm up after our winter ski sessions. Last year we skied through winter... the coldest was lake Eildon with air temp 8 degrees C, and the water at 12 C. The hot shower on the boat was bliss but the passengers froze and ended up drinking too much red wine and were therefore useless as drivers or spotters...

Hot shower has been ordered for the transom so installing this is next.

I agree! That is why every light is concealed and out of a direct line of sight, and they are not as bright as the photo suggests. The main reason for the lights are to help with loading and unloading the boat at night and when moored up.

I do know the recommended night time lighting is... no lights so your eyes can adjust to the darkness. Then your natural tendency is to travel slower as you can't see distance. I do however plan to install an LED light bar or similar as it can be very black at some of our lakes and there are plenty trees.... LED light bar is very low on the money list anyway...

Hey Mark,

I'm keen to see how this hot shower kit works?!
Oh & how did you run the power cables to the port LED lights, from the switch panel?
p.s. I removed my carpets & still run a small fan heater daily in my boat. Even with 3x Damp Rid bowls, my boat is still wet inside weeks after use!

I will post pictures of the shower install.. It is actually very easy but I have only done them on in-boards, not on an I/O. Finding a suitable cold water source is my next investigation. If there is sufficient pressure from the boat cooling system I may not even need a pressure pump but might install one anyway.

For the LED light's I ran a cable around the boat from under the dash, powered from the existing courtesy light switch on the dash. I ran it around the transom and up the other side to the passenger side dash. I wanted lights on each side of the engine compartment anyway so I ran a single cable and spliced the lights into it.
