I have 2009 Four Winns H190. The bunks/carpeted guide-ons had weak weld joints that cracked. We originally just repaired the weld, but the trailer is designed in a way that the highway wind resistance or some other forces on the trailer caused the weld to crack again. So a friend and I spent half of a Sunday welding some new steel and gussets to make the repairs. Pics below. Just wanted to share! The steel is 3/16" thick. I think if Four Winns would add the gusset it would solve the problem.

Wow, nice job with the repair. That said, I'm very curious as to why you didn't move them in closer toward the boat?

In my opinion, the factory placement makes them all but good for nothing except for a place to hold on to when climbing on board while the boat is on the trailer. They are too far apart to help with loading the boat so I was thinking of moving them over.

The same thing happened to me. The bottom metal on the trailer is way too thin to hold the weld when stressed. I rewelded and then added an angle iron cross brace from just below the carpeted guide bunk down to the trailer frame. Very strong now.
