So my "new" 2008 H180 with the 3.0 VP....

Was out looking around at it today and noticed some brown gunk under the engine. It is sort of Rust colored and thick like oil. The oil is fine (just had the oil changed when I bought it) but it also had a lot of old leaves and debris mixed in with it. I wiped it all down and got the garbage out, just wondering if this is maybe something they cleaned the engine with - But then I looked it up and the suggestion was a possible trim pump leak. Where would I find if this is the culprit? There are no "Runs" or signs of stuff dripping off the engine.

Weather is only nice on the days I have to work. Figures....

I bet someone dropped an oil filter during an oil change and could not reach under the engine to clean it all out. Trim fluid is red (auto trans fluid). I would try to clean it as much as you can because if the bilge pump kicks on and pumps out oily water you can get fined.

Sounds like it. I cleaned it out as much as I could but will get in there with some dawn and water to clean the rest out.
