Hey guys I would love your opions and imput on this boat. I am looking at getting one in the next month or two. I would love any info on problems with them or things you love about it. Does any one have a sounds clip of there boat with the side exhaust running? I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance. Also anyone have any picture of their ss going across the lake or sitting out in it. I am not for sure on what color I want, but I think the red will do fine. Orange is tempting me though. But hey yellow and black would be sweet as well. They will all look good behind my Chevy Silverado anyways. Thanks again.

I'd be interested in the price people are paying. The sign by the bow of the yellow SS200 at my dealership lists retail price of $41,000 with the options it has, and he's told me he can sell it for $28,000.

Anytime you can get a boat for around 30% off MSRP - you should jump on it. That's an unvelievable deal... Then try to stack on the Volvo 2+4 for 700 or less or free if you can... and you've got the deal of a lifetime.

Aside from how it looks and sounds, how do you plan to use the boat? How many people at a time, what kinds of activities, etc.?

Where is the dealer that will sell it for 28000? I would love to buy that and have it shipped here if it all checks out. Lowest I can get is 35000 with tower and loaded. Well as far as use goes. I will tow a tube, or skier and not have more that four or five people in it. I like the 20 foot because it will fit the garage. Do you think it will be up to the task I have in store for it? What do you think I should pay for this boat?

Strive for 24% off MSRP. Sometimes you can't get that much off. If you do, you've done very well, any more than that is very thick icing on the cake. And yes, make the Volvo extended warranty part of your negotiations; you shouldn't have to pay more than a few hundred dollars for it, if that.

I think you'll love the boat, but make sure you're worrying more about how it'll fit your intended purpose than how it will look behind your truck ;) .

I think the boat will be great. It will fit in the garage, tow one or two tubes, and be just a great cruiser boat. The looking good behind the truck to me is a sweet bonus wouldn't you say. I wish someone have more pictures of it so I could see how it looks in the water. I also wish someone would tell me how it did pulling tubes or wake boarder.

Well cdub, I would think that the boat would be up to the task you are describing. My brother has a 2007 200 (non ss) with the 5.0 vp fuelie, and it gets out of the water pretty quick. With that engine, it tops out at around 55 mph (gps verified).

My slip neighbor at the marina has a 2007 200SS in orange (full windshield) with the side exhaust. It has the big merc engine (350 MPI/Bravo?) and he claims a top speed in the mid sixties (not sure of what prop he is running). I would also imagine that it would yank a skiers arms off if you put the hammer down and you prop'd it right. Heres the only picture I have of it, sitting at the marina next to mine. Sorry, its not the best view of it! I'd get more, but his boat is out for the season!

The boat by me does not have the tower, so that is part of the lower cost. And he's asking $31,000 for it, he offered it to me cheaper because I've been a customer for years.

I am debating on what motor I would like to get. The 5.0 would be plenty I think but there is no replacement for displacement. How loud is the side exhausts when it is opened? Are all the 07 and 08 SS's fuel injected? I am getting really excited and nervous at the same time. It is a big purchase. Almost as much as my truck seven years ago. Thanks for the info if you can and have it keep it coming. Thanks so much.

I would say get the biggest package your pocketbook can handle.

I agree there is no replacement for displacement... And for resale - I've never heard anyone say "wow, that motor is too big" - but I have heard "that thing only has a what?".

I'm partial to Volvo Penta GXI series... but I hear the Merc 350 Mag with DTS is pretty sweet.

If you can swing the 5.7 - you will never feel like you made a bad decision. If you ge tthe 5.0, it's probably fine but that one time you wish you got the 5.7 you will remember.

Four Winns are big and heavy boats... you can runa 5.0 harder or a 5.7 easier... you'll probably end up with the same mpg.

Just my .02

You make a great point. I appreciate the tips. I think the 5.7 will be a good call. How much more in price do you think it will run over the 5.0? I really wanted the 200 ss because it will fit in the garage. I guess I should take the dealer or should I say let the dealer take me out on the lake and go for a ride in it.

I have heard my neighbours boat several times (as well as the other 3 horizons at the marina with the side exhaust)as he has come in with the exhaust opened many a time, and from a person-on-the-dock pont of view, the exhaust was not too loud at all. I was quite surprised. Even up on step I haven't found them to loud, again from an outside of the boat perspective.

The price difference is going to change depending on the engine package you were originally thinking of... You can get the Volvo 5.0 GI - which is 220hp I believe or you can get the 5.0 GXI with 270.... Your 5.7 options are the 5.7 GI 300hp (up from 280 this ear) or the Merc 350 package.

Personally, I am partial to Volvo Penta setups... that's just me. However, I have heard fantastic things about the Merc 350 Mag setup with the DTS (digital throttle).

The 5.0 Gi is a decent base motor. The 5.0 GXI would be the average setup for that boat I think. The 5.7 GI or the merc 350 w/DTS are the "killer" engine packages.

I can imagine the merc 350 mag w/DTS cruising around the lake with the open exhaust. VROOM VROOM. Not only would it be the envy of your friends, put in the "put up or shut up" case - you would be on the put up side.

I would bet you coud switch props on that 350 mag/bravo1 drive and get pretty dang close to 60 without loosing much on the bottom end.

I say go big. I mean - why not - you're getting the SS.

If $$$ is the deciding factor, I would not go any lower than the 5.0 GXi w/ 270hp. With a boat that heavy and if you wakeboard, you'll need it.

I will testify on behalf of the 350 with a Bravo 3 on it. Knock 2 feet off my boat, and that would be one heck of a package for you. Even without the B3, I would think that engine would do you nicely, especially considering that you are discussing things like exhaust sound and top end.
