I have a dilemma. My boat is winterized, and I plan on having it shrinkwrapped to store. I would prefer to have the outdrive "down" for storage. However, I need to have it up to trailer home after shrinkwrapping. Leaving a "door" in the shrinkwrap won't help, because I won't be able to open the sunsport engine cover to remove battery after lowering outdrive.
Is there any drawback to storing with trim up??
Thanks...
Dave

It's not good for the bellows, but a lot of people do it anyway.

Do you have a transom trim switch? If so, you could have the battery removed before the shrink wrap is applied, rig up a patch cable (a "pigtail" so to speak) and let it hang out from under the shrink. Then just temporarily connect a battery or a jumper pack to the pigtail to run the trim pump.

Couldn't you just loosen the hydraulic rams and manually drop it down?

I believe that there is a release that allows you to move the sterndrive in the event of a pump failure. Take a look at your book or a service manual.
