Hi all,
Had my H220 for a few months now. Since owning it, I have wondered how I get the motorized engine hatch open if the battery is flat??
Any clues?

Cheers, Craig

Use the 12V plug to recharger the battery. But there should be a access port to pull the pin to the rod. So you can manually open the hatch.

Where is the access port ? How can you get to the battery if the hatch is closed ?

Try lifting the hatch by hand. Then use a brace to hold the hatch open. FourWinns mounted a manual brace for my engine hatch inside the engine compartment within easy reach. Look for a rod about two feet long mounted on rubber clips.

The hatch actuator on my 2004 Sundowner had a sliding sleeve around the actuator rod; the hatch could be manually lifted if the battery was flat. Worked well. My 2009 Vista must have something similar as the hatch can be manually lifted, when the systems battery is (invariably) flat but the mechanism is not so obvious.

On my 2004 H230 there is a pull-ring at the front of the hatch (under the slide-out center seat). Flip the ring up, and pull up. However, it is pretty heavy, so make sure you had your Wheaties (wait, I'm talking boats, so I mean spinach!) Have a helper standing by to grab the prop rod and put it in on the right side.

In this photo, the pull-ring is under the right foot of the woman holding the flag.

If you haven't already, through bolt the manual lift handle. They are held in with very short screws, and will pull out if you need to pull up the large hatch.

Hey thanks dudes.
Haven't tried the manual lift thing as yet, but will.
I have noticed the rod to hold the hatch open.
Thought there would have to be a way when the battery is dead.

Thanks again, Craig

As I said, there should be, not that there is a access port to pull the pin on the rod to open it manually. Use any 12V socket to recharge the battery. You don't have to get to the battery! Just to a 12V socket. If there is no port and one is needed to open it manually, well theres your next project!
