I have a '99 H180 and I'm looking to replace the wheels on my FW trailer. I bought a set (3 - including spare) of wheels and tires that were new but realized when I got them home that they were 5-lug wheels and my trailer has 6-lugs on it. Same tire size, just different wheels. It is a single axle trailer with surge brakes.
The brakes need work so I'm looking at either of two options:
1 - Rebuild the brakes and convert to 5-lug components and keep the wheels I have
2 - rebuild the brakes back and buy new wheels.

Does anybody have any ideas to where I can find a set of 6-lug wheels?

I can get all my brake components from Northern Tool, but they don't have the wheels.

Most 5 lug wheels and axels are rated at 3500 pounds per axel, but some are higher. Your 6 lug axel and wheels may be rated more like 5500 pounds. These capacities may vary, but I would not downgrade your trailer by going to 5 lug wheels.

I agree with Ray, your axle is set up for a 6 lug hub there is no way to put a 5 lug hub on it. In fact the bearings are bigger on the 6 lug hub than they are for the 5. I'd get a set of galvanized wheels from Eastern Marine, they are not that expensive and their customer service is very good.

You should be able to purchase 6 lug trailer wheels about anywhere. I picked up a white painted spare for my trailer this summer at local small town tire shop, $60 for rim and $110 for the tire. I also serviced the wheel bearings and brakes finiding out that it is a 6000lb. axle with much larger bearings.

Just an update.

My local northern Tools happened to have a 6-lug in their clearance bin one day for $29.99. So I bought it! Same style rim as I have on my trailer and it's painted white. So the wife says, since you got one so cheap, go ahead and order the other two from Northern Tools and have them shipped in (NT can special order the wheels at $59.98 ea).

Ok, fine. If she's ok with that, off I go to order them. So I use the same part number off the clearance wheel (item #121281) to order two more. As I'm paying at the register, they tell me the bill will be just under $45! "Huh?"

Turns out that they selling them for $20.98 ea even when their parts guy looks it up and tells me they will be $60 bucks each! I wanted to bring my clearance purchase back for the price difference!!!

So....moral of the story:
If you have the 15" diameter 6-lug wheels on your trailer, order some new ones from Northern Tools now before they realize what's up and change the price back!

Yeah, I know what their website says. That was the same thing when they looked it up in the store on their site. But at the register, it came up as the lower price. Twice now. Maybe it is the store. Maybe I'm just lucky here in San Antonio!
