Hi. I was looking at a used H180 OB, but now I'm considering a new 2015 instead. I'm wondering if the hydraulic steering makes a big difference? In what situations is it most helpful? Don't say steering!  It adds to the cost and I'm just not sure if it's a good idea. Please share your thoughts -- good and bad. (FYI, this would be on a relatively calm freshwater lake.) |

Do you want your wife/gf/whatever to steer the boat? If so, get it. |

Ha! Yes I do. Is the non-hydraulic that difficult for girls? How reliable is the hydraulic steering? I'm not looking for something else to go wrong with this boat if the benefit in having it isn't huge. |

I have hydraulic steering on my boat. I recommend it. Especially if you are planning to have the 150hp motor. It makes it much quicker to steer, especially when moving around the docks and stuff....when you need a quick response from the motor. At speed it allows easier steering with less effort so it is less tiring. It is not a necessity, but it does make things better/easier. |
