My tow vehicle is being replaced, ram 1500. I would like to replace it with an SUV. Any suggestions out there?

My Tahoe has been good to me. 236000 miles on it and still going.

With more and more manufacturers moving away from truck based platforms for their SUV's and into the "crossover" type frames, there aren't many to choose from, especially for towing. I think Tahoe/Yukon and Expedition are the only "real" SUV's on the domestic market right now. 4runner and Xterra for imports. Used suv's are always around, depends on your preference though.

Just make sure you check tow capacity. All SUVs have computers that read towing weight. If you pull something over your tow rate and the Tranny goes to hell, Warranty will be void . Big Brother always watching. Computer tells all.

Towing the 190 will not be a problem even for some unibody SUVs. However, if you plan on upgrading to something larger/heavier you may want to get a body-on-frame SUV like mentioned above.

Marina costs $130 a month for dry storage with unlimited pull out/put in.

Cheaper than owning an SUV

I rack store my boat as well but where the OP lives, the city's namesake is the 482 acre Lake Orion but he is also in an area of many other lakes, the largest in his county being the 1,280 acre Cass Lake. He is also ~1 hour from Lake Saint Clair (430 square miles). My point is, he probably would not want to limit himself to a single lake.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi/8speed. Won't even feel that boat. My old one pulls my '88 H200 like its not there and the Quadradrive II 4x4 system is the best there is. Locking diffs rear and front. Full time automatic 2 speed transfer case.

If you are talking about the current Durango, they are really nice. It shares platforms with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Can be had with the HEMI. They can tow up to 6,200 lbs (V6) or 7,400 lbs (V8).

This is said to be the last year for the Durango as FCA is going to discontinue the Durango but bring a redesigned version back as a Jeep Wagoneer. This way, Jeep will have a three row SUV and they will be able to sell more of them for a higher per transaction price.
