So first of all thanks for this forum.....while none of the work I have done to my boat has been earth shattering ..... folks taking the time to lend their expertise and experience really make things go smoother. Got the drive re-installed yesterday with new bellows etc. When doing a first time out leak check where are any obvious spots to keep an eye out for? Or will a problem just not show up till next year when removing the drive again. Everything went smooth and I have no reason to think it will leak.....but.... Will be running it on the driveway a few times before the water and have a fair amount more work to get done before I get it to the water just want a checklist of things to keep an eye on. |

Unfortunately, just about the only way to check if your drive bellows has leaked is to remove the drive and look. Milky grease and rust on driveshaft/u-joints are indicators. |

how about the raw water inlet gasket area? Manual said to put some gasket material around the bolts which I did but it didn't appear any was on from the previous installation. Either way will pull the drive in the fall and check my handiwork...more concerned if there was a chance to have a leak that could drain the bilge pump battery after a period of time or something. |
